Sorry you missed the early explanation of the thread title, r2. The phrase in the subject line was used by Marshall for about a decade or more when we were constantly playing for 1-AA championships. We played in the championship game in 91, 92, 93, 95 and 96 and then went on to play in the MAC championship in 97, 98, 99, 00, 01, and 02. So in a 12 year period we played in 11 championship games. Therefore "We Play for Championships".

Obviously, our fans are excited to be getting back to where we can say that. We won 138 games in that 12 year stretch including 10 years with at least 11 wins. It was good times.
