I'm not saying it is or isn't true but with your history of just saying stuff I have to question everything. Regardless baseball recruiting (with partial scholarships) is different than recruiting for football/basketball.

Go ahead and hang your hat on hearsay that you beat USA on three recruits. We will hang our hat on having a ranked recruiting class.

Wouldn't be the first time we have beaten USA when USA had a better recruiting class, better facilities, better area.

And I cannot post Names of the recruits unless they publicly announced these three players were also recruited by USA too.

And I also believe the Director of football ops. I'm very good friends with the guy. He's not one to make up stuff... And you saw the screen shot of our convo.

RE: Baseball NLI Signing - 1st Day
Cajuns finally posted their 2014 signing class of 14 players.

LAFAYETTE – The Ragin' Cajuns baseball team signed 14 players to a national letter of intent for the 2015 season, head coach Tony Robichaux announced on Friday.

Louisiana signed Nolan Brown (Colleyville, Texas), Ty Ewart (Porter, Texas), Harrison Fife (Austin, Texas), Evan Guillory (Jennings, La.), Cole Jackson (Katy, Texas), Trey Jeans (Texarkana, Texas), Gunner Leger (Lake Charles, La.), Wyatt Marks (Lafayette, La.), Alex Shelton (Austin, Texas), Logan Stoelke (Fayetteville, Texas), Blaine Suehs (Caldwell, Texas), Joe Trahan (Rayne, La.), Stefan Trosclair (Sulphur, La.) and Orynn Veillon (Lafayette, La.).

"This is an important class," Robichaux said. "Our biggest goal was to find some guys that can replace the eight seniors and the players that we could possibly lose to the draft this year. I think with the potential draft picks we have on this team along with the seniors we realized that we needed to go out and try to fill these voids.

"The big thing is that you're looking at a big void to fill with a lot of starters gone after this year. Hopefully these guys can come in and get weathered early, and make a contribution to the team right away."

Ten of the 14 players who signed with the Ragin' Cajuns have the ability to toe the rubber for the Cajuns in the 2015 season.

"Our biggest concern is always pitching," Robichaux added. "It's like the quarterback on the football team. You have to have good pitching. That's where we started. After you take care of pitching then you come in and get a two-way guy like (Ryan) Wilson who can be versatile for you. We also got a couple good hitters that we feel can come in and perform right away, because we are going to be losing some good hitters."

And? It's no secret... But we still beat you.

You facilities are the best in the conference (Troys are one of the better in the conference too) we do have plans to upgrade after football so, that won't be an issue in coming years...

It's no secret mobile is a better living area than Troy Alabama

And you might recruit better but your still not beating us (We do very well in recruiting seeing how we won the head to head in recruiting against USA)

Your history is better, but Troy also has a VERY strong history, USA has been D1 longer too. So you have to factor that in.

Your history is better, but Troy also has a VERY strong history, USA has been D1 longer too. So you have to factor that in.

You split with USA this past year. USA owns the head to head record.

I doubt Troy's baseball facilities ever surpass USA's, so your "won't be an issue in coming years" argument is bogus. Baseball has been USA's pride and joy and we are a top 15 all-time winning program. We won't lag in facilities.

Yes Mobile is better.

We split with Troy this past year. USA owns the head to head record.

USA has been in Division I longer than Troy. That's why I gave the analysis through text to you of percentage of time each program went to the NCAA Tournament as a Division I member. USA has gone to the tournament 52.08% of the time while Troy has gone 31.57% of the time. And quite frankly I'm unfamiliar of when USA "transitioned" to Division I back in the 1960's because I don't know the NCAA policy back then. But we only played 13 games our first year and played 30 or less game for several years after that so I doubt we were eligible right out the gate. Our percentage of making the tournament when we were actually eligible for the tournament is likely even higher., I just can't give you that number offhand.

Alex Shelton and Harrison Fife are two right-handed pitchers (Shelton ranked #255 nationally by PG) from the local high school here (Lake Travis) ... just west of Austin. Shelton and I share the same chiropractor in Lakeway (the chiro played WR at Purdue when Jeff George was there). Shelton is a lanky right-hander (6'4" -> 6'5" and under 200 lbs.) with plenty of upside in his frame. He has said he can run it into the low 90's, but has arm side run at about 88mph now. I plan on catching a few of the Cavalier baseball games this spring.

RE: Baseball NLI Signing - 1st Day
ULM signed 7 players; however, some might not get to ULM due to the MLB draft.

Brandon Baeckel, an outfield/utility player, is currently playing at Northeastern Junior College in Sterling, Colo. Baeckel spent the fall of 2012 at Seminole Community College in Sanford, Fla., before transferring to Northeastern JC where he posted a .337 batting average with six homers to go along with 43 runs and 34 RBI. Baeckel, a native of Loveland, Colo., prepped at Mountain View High School.

JJ Bissell, a native of Denver, Colo., led all Division I Junior College programs with 15 home runs in 2013, while ranking 25th-nationally with 56 RBI. The catcher/first baseman will complete his second season at Northeastern Junior College this upcoming spring. Bissell prepped at Fossill Ridge High School and originally began his collegiate career at Texas Tech.

David Burkhalter, a senior at Ruston High School, posted an 11-1 record with a 0.93 ERA a season ago as he helped Ruston post a 30-6 record. He also finished with 117 punchouts and just 14 walks, a ratio of 8.36-to-1. Burkhalter also participated in the Area Code Games in Los Angles as well as the East-West Showcase in Syracuse, N.Y.

Chase Cater, a native of Rayville, La., will join the Warhawks after a two-year stint at Hinds Community College in Jackson, Miss. Last season, Cater posted a 3-4 record in 27 innings of work (one start) with a 5.33 ERA. He also averaged 7.33 strikeouts per contest as a rookie.

Keegan Curtis, a native of Mobile, Ala., will join the Warhawks once he concludes his prep career at Davidson High School. Last season, Curtis posted a .410 batting average as he tallied 83 hits, including 32 for extra-bases (20 doubles, four triples and eight homers). He scored 65 runs and drove in 30 to go along with 15 stolen bases. He also posted a 5-2 record on the hill, finishing with a 2.10 ERA in 70 innings on the hill. Curtis struck out 82, while walking just 22 (3:73:1 ratio).

Will Daniels, a native of Monroe, will join ULM when his prep career at St. Frederick High School comes to a close. Last season, Daniels, who batted .357, tallied eight homers (second most in the state) and finished fifth in the state with a .773 slugging percentage. He is also expected to see time on the mound during his Warhawk career.

The final Warhawk signee is Houston, Miss., native Daniel Springer. The first baseman hit 11 homers as a freshman at Mississippi Delta Community College, the fifth-highest total in the country. He finished with a .343 batting average and more than half of his hits were for extra-bases (24-of-47). He scored 36 runs during his rookie season and finished in the top 20 in slugging percentage. Prior to arriving at Mississippi Delta CC, Springer prepped at Houston High School

RE: Baseball NLI Signing - 1st Day
That's the double-edge sword that exists in baseball recruiting that doesn't exist in most sports. In football, they have to wait three years after high school, so you are good recruiting there. In basketball, they have to wait a year, but since the NBA only has 12 men on the active roster that really only affects the top of the top. SBC schools will very rarely lose a recruit after the freshman year to the pro's.

In baseball, you could lose a recruit, as the amateur draft is 50 rounds for every MLB team. UTA last year had two players drafted in the top 5 rounds, a junior outfield slugger taken in the second round and a high schooler taken in the fourth. Had he come here, we'd have been more than a 30-win, co-conference championship team last year.

On the other hand, you take a lot of Juco's you will only have them for 1-2 years and have to continually retool your team every year. That isn't a recipe for success. As far as I am concerned, baseball coaches have the toughest recruiting challenge of any NCAA sport.

I think he's a gap filler. We lost a lot of pitchers to MLB the past 2 seasons and I think it showed last season. We have way more pitchers than position players taken. Fikac (a former pro pitcher) and the recently departed coach Matlock (went to WV) are/were excellent in developing pitching talent

Georgia Southern signs 12 - Coach Hennon's staff added Logan Baldwin, Chris Brown, Spencer Duffie, Tyler Graham, Will Hudgins, Jordan Howard, Drew Kelley, Coltan Ramsey, Sid Royal, Josh Slate, Dalton Whitaker, Trevor Wood to their 2015 team.

"We got really good balance out of this class. We had 12 signees during the early period with seven of them being pitchers. Three of those are junior college pitchers and anytime you can get a good player out of the junior college ranks, he has got a little more experience and maturity coming in. All of our signees are very physical guys that have an opportunity to play big roles for us in 2015," Hennon said.

The Eagles added 11 players from Georgia and one from Florida. Five players are junior college signees and the other seven are currently finishing their final season of high school.

Bios of Signees
Logan Baldwin – LHP/OF – 6-0 – 170

Played summer ball for the Southern California National Travel Team in 2013 and the Chattanooga Cyclones from 2010-12... Named Most Improved in 2011 and the Best Pitcher in 2010... RE: Baseball NLI Signing - 1st Day
I was listening for Harsin news on the radio today and our baseball coach made a comment in an interview that the SBC was slowly beginning to earn more and more respect from the selection committee in terms of baseball seeding. He cited ULL as a two seed last year as a primary example.

His commentary was that with the new additions for 2014 and 2015 the league will most likely be at the point where the SBC will be considered a power league, and our top teams will have a much greater chance of a favorable NCAA seed, rather than just sweating it out to make the field.

I thought it was an interesting comment about how he sees the league. He cited the SBC's strength as a reason for ASU's different OOC schedule this year, which included respectable mid level programs, but only two games against an SEC /ACC/PAC 12 type team
