IMHO the smoothest, most gorgeous female vocalist ever--I'm talking vocally, not physically, here--
her voice was like glass in smoothness and effortlessness.
Artist: Carpenters
Album: Ticket To Ride (Originally titled: 'Offering')
Song: "Someday"
1969 A&M Records
Their debut album was an ambitious, awesome display of talent and songwriting, featuring both Richard and Karen's stellar vocalization talents and harmonies.
Oh, yeah, Karen played drums, too. She was able to sing like that and play skins at the same time...here's a jazzy, experimental number where Karen displays both talents, while her brother, Richard, plays electric piano:

Dirt was pretty good. A good movie take on how each of them got to where they were before they became the Crue, how the Crew formed, and how life as Motley Crue was.
My own take on MC is the following: I knew who they were in jr high but never realy listened to them and then Dr. Feelgood came out. I got that tape. It was great. I borrowed Decade of Decadence from a friend when it came out and I actually liked a lot of their older material. Later on, with a sale though BMG Music club I got their entire back catalog up through Dr. Feelgood. Yeah, their glam style gave them a lot of grief but their ability to make it darker than say Twisted Sister was their hook. Yeah a lot of metal from that era was cookie cutter and disposable but the reason poeple still give a damn about Motley Crue is they had the thing. A lot of those bands didn't have "the thing."
So, the new joints accompanying the movie release are:

Quote:Ranking Roger, lead singer of the 80s bands English Beat and General Public, dead at 56 from a brain tumor.
NO!!!!
I was just listening to this last week. Terrible news. One of the best in ska. Will be missed. RIP Ranking Roger.
Roger Charlery (21 February 1963 – 26 March 2019), known professionally as Ranking Roger was a British musician. The son of Jean Baptiste Charlery and his wife Anne Marie, he was of West Indian descent; his mother and father being from Saint Lucia. Roger became a punk rock fan as a teenager and was the drummer in the Dum Dum Boys before joining ska revival pioneers The Beat in the late 1970s. He was a vocalist in the 1980s two-tone band The Beat (known in North America as The English Beat) and later General Public. Later he headed up a reformed Beat lineup.
The "Ranking" moniker is short for "top-ranking" or "high-ranking", and is a boast typical of many MCs.
In January 2019 it was announced that Roger had undergone surgery for two brain tumours, and was undergoing treatment for lung cancer. He died at his home on 26 March 2019 at the age of 56. Roger had five children, including son Ranking Junior (Matthew Murphy) and daughter Saffren who both featured with their father in a Beat revival band.

You got to love this guy. He just brings a smile to your face through his music and the infectious smile on his face. There will never be another. He was a musician, actor, and great personality. Here he is at the Improv with Doc Severinsen. Enjoy!

I finished up that movie last night. I never liked them as much as say GNR, but a couple of their songs weren't bad (I'm more of a softer rock guy so Home Sweet Home is more my style I guess). The movie was okay - nothing amazing. But the lead actors all looked pretty close to the originals, and some of the other supporting actors/actresses were spot on as well (Ozzy, Heather Locklear). I still need to see Bohemian Rhapsody (which I have on Blu-Ray) and may have to see Rocket Man in the theaters when that music bi-op comes out later this year.
