A few words about Troy's offense by Coach Hud
From the Baton Rouge Morning Advocate and written by Dan McDonald
The adjustments might not have to be as dramatic for Thursday against the Trojans (5-4, 3-2), whose offensive package resembles NMSU in some respects. The difference, according to Hudspeth, is the Trojans do it better, starting with at quarterback.
“There’s a reason they’re averaging about 500 yards a game (479.6),” he said. “Not many people have slowed them down. We saw the wildcat a little on Saturday, but Troy’s two-headed monster at quarterback is pretty good.”
Trojan quarterback Corey Robinson leads the league in total offense and passing yardage, and while he’s considered the “running” quarterback for Troy, Deon Anthony tops the Sun Belt in passing efficiency, less than two points ahead of Cajuns quarterback Terrance Broadway.
“The best way to defend them is to have our defense on the sideline drinking Powerade and our offense controlling the clock and the game,” Hudspeth said. “You always hope to establish the run, but it’s crucial for us to hold the ball this week. If we go a lot of three and outs and leave Corey Robinson out there on the field, that’s not a good things for us.
“He’s never seen a throw he didn’t like, he’s really good at buying extra time and he’s got a cannon of an arm, but mostly he’s just a veteran. He knows the game and knows that offense.”

Robinson is the best QB in the league and has been killing it since he stepped on the field. Remember that the next time your team signs a kid with no FBS offers. Aplin had not other FBS offers either.

We had Michael Desormeaux in that category... I'll take that. And Tyrell Fenroy only had one other offer, which he did not receive until after he committed to UL.

ULM and Tech both offered Dezmo.

Deon won't be playing tomorrow. He may be out for the rest of the season. That makes our offense somewhat less effective. Corey can sling it, but defenses can tighten up now that the element of a running quarterback is gone. Hoping for the best.

The NMSU offense was kind of like substituting ingredients from a bare kitchen while making a cake from scratch.
It was made up ( because of injuries ) just last week by a team without much to lose.
How much of it was just unexpected novelty and how much of it was exploiting a UL weakness that Troy would identify remains to be seen.

Kind of like Browning out for the season, last year, and again this year. Tuff players find a way to get back on the field.

I'm not making excuses... I'm just saying he's going to be out... I think we would lose with or without him...
He's a key play maker for Troy. Much like Browning is for ULM.
Also not everyone has injures to perhaps their best player. Just saying.....

From what I understood about what was taking place during that first half, the Cajun defense was not only flat, but NMSU was throwing things at the defense that they'd not seen on any game films. The Cajuns obviously made some adjustments at half and shut it down.

Anthony is right there from New Iberia. He and his family must really be disappointed that he can't play in this game.

I actually think this is a good thing, I haven't been a fan of the two QB system anyways. CR has more than enough talent to win, and has done it before Deon arrived.

Who are the Cajuns missing with injuries? Watching quite a few over your games, haven really seen anyone go down. Am I not thinking of someone?
