RE: 2014 Football Schedule
Updated with Elon and Towson:

Aug. 30 at Maryland
Sept. 6 at Lehigh
Sept. 13 ST. FRANCIS
Sept. 20
Sept. 27 DELAWARE (or LIBERTY?)
Oct. 4 (not Liberty or Stony Brook)
Oct. 11 TOWSON
Oct. 18 (not Rhode Island or Stony Brook)
Oct. 25 at Charlotte
Nov. 1 (not Albany, Rhode Island, or Villanova)
Nov. 8 at Stony Brook? (not Albany, Maine, Rhode Island, Villanova, or William & Mary)
Nov. 15 at Richmond
Nov. 22 ELON

(do not play New Hampshire at all)

Also from Delaware's newspaper on Monday:
http://www.delawareonline.com/article/20...l-schedule

Quote:However, the CAA schedule could change should more conference realignment intervene. James Madison, in particular, is exploring a possible move to the FBS. Should that occur prior to next season, the 2014 schedule would have to be redrawn.

We also will not be moving the Liberty game to replace Maryland if that changes. Liberty is already playing at UNC on Aug. 30th.

RE: 2014 Football Schedule
Par for the course that posters on this board are piecing together JMU's 2014 schedule based on data released by other schools. Try as yea may to claim we are holding back due to a 1A transition year, I call bull ****. It's a symptom of a culture and a "whatever" attitude.

Actually, Nov 8 can only be Stony Brook, Bye or OOC.

RE: 2014 Football Schedule
Nov. 1 should be a home game against either Liberty or most likely William & Mary as it seems improbable to have 4 straight road games.

I have Oct. 4 or 18 as the only possibilities for JMU to play Maine.......most likely in Orono.

That's what I was thinking. Probably W&M at home, @Maine, and @URI/SB/Albany. No Villanova.

RE: 2014 Football Schedule
Aug 30 at Maryland
Sept 6 at Lehigh
Oct 25 at Charlotte

As was mentioned earlier, it would seem one of these three has to go assuming we are still in the CAA (or at least playing a full CAA schedule). Otherwise we're looking at a 12 game season with only five home games. JMU wouldn't do that to the team and fans, would they? (rhetorical question)

I think @Charlotte is a lock. They fell into our lap because ODU cancelled their 2014 game there. It would be really bad form to try and cancel or postpone that one.

UMD is our usual FBS game. I don't think we'd initiate a cancellation there. But I suppose there is a possibility we get bought out with UMD's move to the B1G.

That leaves Lehigh. The path of least resistance might be to try and swap the series so they play @JMU this year and we play at their place in 2015 (or whenever). They have an 11 game schedule with 6 home / 5 away that season so I wouldn't think it would be a tremendous burden for them to do this.

If the Liberty game gets moved off another year, we could potentially be looking at an OOC schedule with an FBS team, home against Liberty, and @Lehigh in 2015. The JMU site also lists a home Morehead St game. If we are transitioning at that point then I think we could keep that game as another home OOC.

RE: 2014 Football Schedule
We have to assume we keep the W&M alternating pattern, at home.

That means our remaining possible road games (after UR) are 3 of Maine, SB, Albany, Nova. Would they really make us travel to NY/NE three times in one season? I'm thinking Nova has to be on the schedule again.

RE: 2014 Football Schedule
Sometimes I wonder if we put more thought into the football schedule on here as Bourne and co. do.

Also, how do some teams already know who what their conference slate is going to look like for next year and we don't? Shouldn't those all be released at the same time?

I have a theory that the admin is having some trouble with next season's schedule. I do believe that we might have 7 road games with 5 home games.

I'm sure the conference developed the schedule and told teams to do with it what they will. Some teams, like JMU, clearly have some OOC issues to work out before they release it in its entirety.

This is the exact reason that when it came out we had a home-and-home deal with Charlotte, this years game should be played in Charlotte. It was set up to be an easy game for us, next year Charlotte will be tougher. It would have placed an FBS opponent in BFS next year, the first ever. It would have given us 6 home gmes each of the two years. I was all but placed in stocks and ridiculed for being a traitor. But what do I know...

On the surface it does seem extreme. But if one of those three is @SB then it's not a whole lot further than Villanova and the conference may not consider it to be a travel burden (such as Maine/URI).

I was making the assumption that we'd play a 5 / 3 split of Southern vs Northern schools. But perhaps that isn't necessary for all the Southern teams. Doing some quick napkin math if each of the North schools plays each other (four conf. games each) that would leave four conf. games to be matched up against South schools (20 total games). If each South school played three North teams that comes out to 21 games. So I guess it is possible that one Southern school would play a 6 / 2 split. None of the other South teams that have released their schedule have a 6 / 2 split so it could be us.

Actually, now that I look more closely at it, Richmond plays four North teams (2 home, 2 road). So makes it more likely we could have a 6 / 2 split and play @Villanova.

All right, I'm backtracking. Elon is not playing Villanova so they likely have a 5-3 split of the South & North teams (using NY and above to define the North). That means that JMU and W&M both have 6-2 splits assuming there are 20 games between the regions. So we'll likely play @Villanova and host W&M.

It would seem that 11/1 would be the sweet spot for the home game vs. W&M. Otherwise we'll be front loaded with home games and have an absurdly long gap towards the end of the season. Also, W&M plays at home the week before and after so a road game in between makes sense for them.

Also, I do not think we will play Albany. They are already hosting Richmond and Delaware so they probably won't host us.
