You have another 23,000 seats to add and fill.

RE: ECU and the SEC
ECU's long ambition, and frustrations, to become a member of a top power conference are understandable.
But that can be said about the majority of the AAC schools. Tulsa realizes that an elevated association is not realistic for them due to being a small, private institution. Navy seems content with their current fb-only set-up. Maybe two or three current AAC schools will eventually obtain a higher placement, but I wouldn't count on anything beyond that.
ECU has the situation of not having any in-conference rivals that are geographically real close. There is no immediate fix for that. Maybe when major shifts occur in whatever future year, ECU finds an improved opportunity.
ECU being in the SEC weighs on the fantasy side. ACC turnover is comparatively more likely IMO, and that is quite a few years away if it happens at all.

If we were in the SEC that would be no problem. Miss State just got out of the 50000s recently and Ole Miss stadium is not super large neither is Kentucky and I won’t even bring up Vandy. Point is teams have to be given time to grow to their SEC schedule. We can add seats in front of the Murphy center and another upper deck in the end zone to have 70,000 seat stadium.

All I was posting was showing how ECU football wise is way more P5 in our state than some the ACC schools.

ECU's stadium looks impressive. I have seen it from the outside. However, size comparisons with Mississippi State may not be the best choice. MSU comparatively has the highest percentage in filling their facility in the SEC. In sheer numbers, four SEC schools delivered less.

https://www.al.com/sports/g66l-2019/01/5...-2018.html

Looking at the AAC, UCF and USF had the highest growth in attendance figures from one year to the next. Their attendance figures surpass what is shown for ECU and similar others in the AAC.

http://www.ncaa.org/championships/statis...attendance

I like ECU and respect their accomplishments. For upward mobility in conference affiliation though, the "build it and they will come" approach, needs to be coupled with more comprehensive and convincing selling points.

Would adding ECU (or any other in similar circumstances) assure the SEC would be receiving at least 30+ million more a year, and each SEC member would be distributed 3+ million more a year? Texas can do that. Oklahoma could do that. Clemson, sure. ECU? Not so much.

Confirmed: The renovations to the southside of the stadium will add 1,000 more seats (from 50k to 51k capacity), including a new press area, sky boxes, and club-level seating....In addition to the TowneBank Tower, Minges Coliseum and the Murphy Center Weight Room have also been renovated.

One can say this. ECU facilities are nice. No visiting university should feel apprehensive about being hosted by ECU based specifically on facilities and decorum.

SEC Planning to Move Forward With or Without the Rest of College Football

Pretty exciting news! Proud to be in a conference with some sense. Getting super hyped up about our conference opener at SC.

SEC!

I’ve always thought ECU has a legitimate chance to become the power football program in NC. The facilities are there. It’s such a shame y’all aren’t in the ACC. The NC schools in the ACC seem content just allowing the others to hold some of the spotlight. No one in that state has been able to be THAT school for football. Every state has one except NC.

ECU is about to be back to the NC football school. Watch out. Taking on SC the next two years home and away. SC has always schedule is well, when Clemson won’t give us the light of day.

RE: ECU and the SEC
I always thought ECU would have done a lot more with a SEC invite than Missouri. Larger state and would have gotten a lot of the best recruits.
