Exclamation Football Game 9: Mercer 51, Davidson 26---FINAL (8-1, 4-1 Pioneer)
Let's take care of business at Davidson!! Can't overlook them or any team. So let's not worry about the future, but focus on the present -- and that means back-to-back road wins!

Davidson has only scored 55 total points in five Pioneer Football League games. Mercer has scored 117 in four games. Davidson is also allowing as many points as Campbell does. Let's keep these trends going....

Davidson seems to be moving more toward a new QB despite their current starter being a 4th year starter and the holder of most of the school passing records. The new guy is a transfer who started as a FR for Southern University in the SWAC. Know him pretty well since I was on Coaching Staffs for the teams he played for from the time he was 11 thru his HS years. Could be a game-changer if the Davidson Coaches will turn him loose. BEARS D needs to be ready for a different look than they've seen on video and the BEARS O needs to just keep on doing their thang!

Their original quarterback seemed pretty good, so I don't think a change at QB is going to magically save them. We just have a tougher game to prepare for, but this Mercer team can do it. Thanks for the heads up on the QB situation, we'll have to monitor it.

I noticed a ridiculous stat going into this Davidson game:

Davidson has made ZERO field goals this year.

I'm not even sure if they've attempted a field goal.

They have missed several PAT's, used more than 1 kicker, and usually go for 2 point conversions when they rarely score.

When was the last time a Division I team went an entire year without making a field goal? Has a team EVER gone a season without attempting a field goal!?

RE: Football Game 9: Mercer 51, Davidson 26---FINAL (8-1, 4-1 Pioneer)
Great game Bears!! Took care of Davidson in style, 51-26. I look back at that game, and I see a Davidson team in a lot of trouble. For comparison, I see Campbell on the rise and moving in the right direction. Davidson is missing fundamentals on many levels: No kicking game (literally), snaps bouncing to the punter repeatedly, and multiple personal foul/taunting/unsportsmanlike penalties. Including a taunt called on Davidson with about 10 seconds left in the game.

Mercer really ran the ball well with Donald, Russ, and Brown. Donald was injured at the end (ankle) so that is tough after how well he ran. Hopefully he's good by next week!

Great win for Mercer, and I would assume the final time they will ever play Davidson after that.

Let's beat Jacksonville!!

After a slow start great win for The Bears. Davidson has a beautiful campus and our fans were great. all in all(minus the rain after the clock hit 00:00) it was a beautiful day of football. Thanks to all who came out!
