God, we're such pessimists. I know why, but we've raised nearly half a billion dollars in what, a couple of months? Think about that a second. We'll raise more. Get that ship well under way, then start an outright public drive to raise money for the OCS. They'll have nothing to ***** about then, and if we raise the money ourselves we can spit in their eye and tell them to go pee up a rope.

I hear what you're saying, but those scoundrels have shown their spitefulness before when UAB was on the verge of major breakthroughs, what's to stop them from flexing their political muscle this time? Whatever UAB accomplishes in this regard, and it's fantastic that they're already nearly halfway there in 2 months, but still, they have to get approval on any endeavor from those scumbags.

Remember how you felt in the months and weeks leading up to November of 2011 before tendering your observation...

P.S. Between you and I, nothing would please me more than to be able to tell that BOT to go **** themselves, but life ain't that simple for fans of UAB athletics. I know it, you know it, too.

Money begets facilities (field house, field turf on practice field etc)
Facilities beget better recruiting
Better recruiting begets winning
Winning begets better support (attendance and money)
Support begets stadium

The fact is we need ALL those things like yesterday but the only one we can affect right now is the first one. Frankly if we can't do the first one the rest won't matter

What did Central Florida acquire first in their quest to bring their football facilities into the 21st Century? I watched a segment on ESPN a couple of weeks ago featuring the Knights of UCF, going over a gameplan at their indoor practice venue, then the cameras panned their state of the art weight room. I'm guessing that they had the stadium built first and all this other stuff just fell into place. Jackie (Williams) is really going to flourish in his one season of playing there, he's going to a marvelous situation and football culture, facility-wise, anyway.
