My favorite thing about this mid-major nonsense is when several years ago a player from Xavier was awarded Mid-Major Player of the Week and refused to accept it becuase he said X is not mid-major and niether is he. Dave weather you like it or not doesn't change the history of Western or the game of college basketball. The NIT had the better teams in their tourney in that era and for the most part the NCAA was today's NIT only both field were stronger because only the top teams played in both....but the NCAA got the pick from the schools left after the NIT made their choice.

I understand that but I can't imagine any other fan base points out things like that......I just like to go by the banners hanging in Diddle.

I totally agree with you Topstraight. At the end of the day on selection Sunday you will be seeded where the committee thinks you belong, not as a mid major.

That's where you are wrong....

look at the seeding before and since the late 80s when espn became a player and so have the recruiting rags and the term "mid major" took hold and branded all but the BCS conferences. Actually it even branded the BCS schools...

The term "mid major" made the middle and bottom feeders of the BCS conference better. Not necessary on the court but to the eyes of the NCAA selection committee. It's changing, slowly, and hopefully I will see a full swing in my lifetime (better happen in the next 15-20 years going by my family tree) .


I understand you didn't mean it like I responded but the words "mid major" has hurt the schools living under that term in every way.
