RE: NCAA Top 50 Stat Rankings - Week 8
You guys constantly claim you have a large fan base across the state, and I believe that's accurate. However, when a Marshall fan gives you grieve for your poor travel to Huntington you whip out the "7-8 hour trip" routine. I have been to all 4 games in Greenville. Personal best time is 6:25. What about all your fans in Raleigh? 6 hours if you don't push it. How about Charlotte? 5 hours if you don't push it.

Bragging about fans that attend in-state games is laughable, especially when you have more alumni living in those cities than in your school's home city. If it comes down to the final game of the season for the east championship and you guys have only 400 or 500 fans make the trip it shows how much of your attendance is based on supporting your team and how much is based on the social aspects of tailgating and hanging out with friends with a football game as an excuse for the get together.

Well per the USATODAY rankings Sagarin shows you guys barely have a tougher SOS than us.

ECU with the #105
Marshall in at #123

http://www.usatoday.com/sports/ncaaf/sagarin/

Also per http://www.collegefootballpoll.com/curre...kings.html

Marshall has #115 SOS
ECU has #116 SOS

For REALTIMERPI http://realtimerpi.com/football/ncaaf_Men.html

ECU has #172
Marshall has #174

ECU Overall average SOS #131
MArshall overall average SOS #137

So please don't act like ECU has played a demanding schedule. You have us by 6 spots on an average from 3 different rankings

There are actually 13,941 alumni in Pitt County (where Greenville is), 13,211 in Wake county (where Raleigh/NC State is) and 819 in Orange County (where Chapel Hill/UNC is). But don't let facts get in the way.

Also there was ample opportunity for smack talk from both sides on the topic that started this thread. Why are we now on travelling attendance smack, which might be the weakest for of smack yet?

Those two aren't BCS computers, at least Sargarin was. Here is another BCS computer

Massey

ECU 79 SOS
Marshall 108 SOS

I could probably go through Massey's composite rankings and find some others that had our SOS ranked 30 spots higher too. Point is national rankings are a joke when some teams are playing top 5 SOS's and we play a 75+ or 100+ one.

Ok here you go then....

AndersonSports SOS
ECU #91
Marshall #109

Billingsley SOS
ECU # 98
Marshall # 109

Colley Matrix SOS
ECU # 96
Marshall # 125

Massey SOS
ECU #79
Marshall #108

Sagarin SOS
ECU #105
Marshall # 123

Overall Average SOS
ECU # 93
Marshall # 114

While you might be 21 spots better on average from 5 polls the BCS uses (Wolfe Ratings aren't posted yet for the year). Barely cracking the Top 100 on average is not something to brag about. So to say our stats are skewed by SOS would pretty much make yours skewed as well. I could understand your argument if you had a Top 50 average SOS....hell, I'll even give you Top 75....but you don't fall into either....you barely fall inside the Top 100.....so please stop acting as if you have some crazy good schedule.

My guess is we will bring a similar crowd to what Marshal brings to Greenville. This type of smack really is lame as hell anyway today with so many games being televised. No one travels for schit now outside of their general area.

Very few fans travel 6 hours to a damn away game....Hell man....I already drive 3 hours to home ECU games. I think I get a Fckning pass for not having to drive to Huntington.03-lmfao

I guess that's the difference between real fans and tailgaters. I'll be getting up Thursday morning and driving 6 1/2 hours to Tennessee to watch my team play. Watching a game on TV when it is within driving distance is just kind of weak.

Good for you for being able to do that. I have driven from Blacksburg to Greenville for 3 games this year but just wasn't able to do so for the 4th, despite the fact that I was dying to. Why don't you take a break now, this thread wasn't supposed to have anything to do with being a traveling fan. 04-cheers

You are still looking up at us in all the computer polls team rankings I've seen.

Yup and you are still behind us in the conference standings.....which mean more than a ranking....

Why/how were we brought into this pissing match?

A few over zealous ECU fans and a few over zealous Marshall fans who can't wait a month to talk crap to each other. It is getting ridiculously obnoxious. It may or may not be a big game when it gets here but it is over a month away. Not sure if I can take another month of this crap from either side.

Not all of us have the luxury of traveling for a weekend to the away games despite our desires. Hell I had to work my rear off all week to make time to go to the game Saturday and I live a block from Dowdy Ficklen Stadium.

I was bored and decided to count the number of posts SJ had in this one thread and its not a long one either. SJ had 8 out a total of 38 posts in this one thread alone. I think he needs more to do in RL. 04-jawdrop04-jawdrop04-jawdrop05-mafia

UTSA's stats are not included in your list. They are actually 5th in the nation in 4th down conversion %

Sacks:

18: IK Enemkpoli - (La Tech)
22: Codie Brooks - (UTSA)

It took one post for SJ to turn this thread into a Marshall/ECU pissing match.

Is that a new record?
