Basketball Tourney Future.
The sec has announced that the SEC basketball tourney will be held in Nashville for 12 consecutive years. This will make it very hard for CUSA to hold the tourney there.

San Antonio would be an excellent choice

It should consistently be in Charlotte, San Antonio, and maybe Dallas IMO. Not familiar enough with Texas geography to say for sure. Not that too many people travel for this tournament in the first place, but I really can't see any other place getting even a reasonable number of people there.

UTSA draws like 1k people. They aren't going to support it. UTEP is your best host. They've proven they can pull it off.

I mentioned in the other basketball thread that Nashville actually doesn't get the tournament in 2018 or 2022 (St Louis and Tampa), so those two years could potentially be up for grabs. That is unless the reason the SEC isn't coming to Nashville is because of another event already scheduled for those two years.

Keep the tournaments at on-campus venues as much as possible.

We know that El Paso can do it. I think Bartow Arena is a strong choice, too -- central location and a local fan base that is into MBB and will show up.

The last time the SBC Tournament was held there we Hilltoppers had a great time! My vote is to go to Gulf Port every year!

Birmingham is an easy drive for a lot of the eastern schools. El Paso has done a good job. I'd imagine ODU would draw decently. The casino area is also very interesting to me.

This is all assuming Nashville is out. I wouldn't say those 3 places should consistently get the tournament until we at least look at some of the other venues.

Once every three years is about right for El Paso. As others have pointed out, we did a fairly good job hosting it.

Actually because of Katrina funds for a 100+ million dollar renovation came available.

El Paso should definitely host the tourney regardless of the distance from the other schools. They did an outstanding job of hosting the event two years ago.

I also think it is a good idea to hold it on campus as well because a 12,000 seat arena is really not a necessity. We've got some great locations to hold it for sure.

Great news for the Mississippi Coast region -- thanks for the link.

And yes it would be a great spot for conference tournaments. I'm still biased in favor of on-campus facilities whenever practical, though.

Their is always Muncipal Auditorium that seats 10k or have the CUSA tournament a week earlier at Bridgestone, Could they not do that? Either way they should alternate between an eastern city and western city every year for the CUSA tournament....

Before in the old days of the wac, the regular season champ would host the conference tourney. Don't know if that can be done logistically nowadays. I say just give it to the highest bidder. If it wants to be rotated, just make sure the host locations are willing to pay a set guarantee.

RE: Basketball Tourney Future.
A rotation of El Paso, Norfolk, Charlotte (downtown though), and Dallas would seem to make the most sense...it gives you two in the West, two in the East...maybe they could throw in the Gulfcoast in the middle every once in awhile...

Maybe just have a 5 year rotation with those five. IMO, Charlotte would be the best actual site because if you use the downtown arena the hotels and entertainment are all within walking distance, plus its easy to get direct flights most places....you would want to maybe do it when the ACC was tourney was out of the state though.

He had a break down over on the Sun Belt board and went into an asterisk laden rant. Love the kids passion, but it was time for him to be banned.

The SEC WBB Tournament gets Bridgestone Arena in 2018, 2022, and 2026.
