I hope he pans out. The only thing that may get him is a lack of experience.

At least the pressure did not get to him. What a mess he had to step into... he would have been our starter next year anyway.

That bodes well for next year; the kid has all the talent he needs.

The only problem he faces is being 5'11". Also, the best pass he threw went backwards to a WR, who threw the Tigers final TD.
I'd like to see him lead Mizzou to a win after playing a full game before anointing him their savior. The Florida game will give us an opportunity to find that out.

Florida is a tough way to start a career.

Florida is a tough way to start a career.
Athens Georgia was a tough way to start a career. The coach says 3-5 weeks for Franklin. He was having a great year:
James Franklin Last 2 Seasons
2012 2013
Comp pct 59.4 67.7
TD-Int 10-7 14-3
Yds/att 6.7 8.1
Total QBR 38.8* 80.4
*Second-worst among SEC qualified QBs

A home game against Florida is a tough way to start a career. I remember that happening last year with some kid name Johnny Manziel and he was just never the same after having to face Florida's defense. LOL
Good luck to new guy, just hope his offseason isn't compared to Johnny's.

I heard that during the game as well, but actually his bio lists him as 6'0". Same height as Drew Breeze.

Have you all ever seen so many injuries as this year? We have traded concussions for knees. Rule changes have changed the game.

I'm not sure our bodies have caught up to our incredibly quick addition of bulk. In football, this bulk becomes muscle, and these guys are adding it to frames that simply are not built for it. Increase mass and velocity, and we are seeing what happens. I'm not sure where the sweet spot resides. Maybe it will eventually result in 7 on 7 with shorter fields so that the running starts by both offense and defense are reduced.

In the CS & CR Board I suggested several rule changes that could be implemented to try and keep current FB from turning into the Arena League. My thoughts were:
1. Max weight limit of 280 lbs.
2. Repeal the Mel Blount Rule (Illegal Use of Hands)
3. No 3 point stance
As you stated BBB, F=ma. Unless you find a way to reduce the size or slow the players down, these type of injuries will become common. especially now as many DB are targeting areas below the waist for tackling.

Many of these injuries are caused by hits on a receiver or running back which will always start with a running start. Secondly, knees just aren't made for hits. A boxer cannot train his face, and you cannot train a ligament. I blew an ACL. Not funny. I don't see how you protect knees. It's either going to be low hits or high hits.

Football cost me a knee. I'd still play again. Give me one outdoor sport where injuries don't occur? Even golf has some issues.
As for Missouri I think the new kid will be fine. He isn't as nimble as Franklin, but from what I saw last Saturday he is stronger and runs over people instead of around them. If he is accurate with his arm he'll be fine.
Missouri 24 Florida 14

My knee, my ankle, my wrist, and my back still hurt from playing football.

I figured the Florida defense would score 7.
I didn't count arthritis, possible heat stroke and definite heat exhaustion (in the old days water was for sissy's and salt tablets cured all ills). Hell I feel like I could audition for the scar sharing scene in Jaws. "Here's to swimmin with bow legged women!"

OUCH! 7 points, it's not like there is a rational argument against it. LOL
That was a bit before my day.
