Well, things just got shaken up a lot...
As of right now...

Alabama
Oregon
Missouri
UCLA
FSU
Clemson
Miami
Baylor
Texas Tech
Ohio State
Louisville

Are all undefeated and have a chance for the crystal ball.
What an odd list through week 7.

One loss teams that control their own destiny...

LSU
Stanford

Teams that need help getting there

Texas A&M
South Carolina
Auburn
Oklahoma
Virginia Tech

Teams that are out by default

Georgia
Florida
Michigan
Nebraska
Northwestern
Wisconsin
Fresno State
NIU
Houston
Washington
Oklahoma State
Rutgers

It's going to be interesting watching this season play out.

I kind of doubt the past weekend will be the last one in which we see upsets happen. This is shaping up to be a very interesting season...

Yeah it's a tough world for non AQs... Not dissing any of them at all, just stating the simple truth that none of the voters are going to give them enough love to get there.

LSU and Stanford hardly control their own destiny. Both could win out- and be knocked out if Ohio St and FSU/Clemson winner wins out. And I would think they would need Texas Tech and Baylor to lose as well. And the team no one is talking about Miami.

So I would move LSU and Stanford to the teams needing help list, along with Louisville. Because frankly- LSU and Stanford are BOTH ahead of Louisville right now.

In spite of the upsets, I think Ohio States chance at the big game greatly
diminished this past Saturday....during a weekend in which they didn't play.

TT could fall from the ranks of the unbeaten this weekend when they travel to Morgantown. That long trip was too much for OSU, and it could have the same effect on TT...

It certainly worked in reverse before.

Only because they have opportunities to boost their resume that Louisville doesn't have, so if they win out they would likely be ahead of Louisville, but for each that would mean beating a current top-2 team and also winning two more games against top-15 teams.

LSU and Stanford do control their own destiny to win their conference, but so do a lot of other teams not listed by the OP.

I agree that if at least two of the current top 5 win out, then there won't be a 1-loss team in the title game.

How are teams like Georgia, Florida and Wisconsin "out by default"? Because they've lost 2 games?

We've had 11-2 teams play for the NC before. It may or may not happen again this year, but don't kid yourself into thinking it Couldn't happen.

Absolutely. Louisville is undefeated but they are 2 groupings down with the "NEEDS HELP" schools.

It almost certainly won't happen. Only one team out of 15 title games has made it with 2 losses. That's a paltry 3.33% of teams to have played in the title game while having greater than 1 loss.

LSU only made it because there were NO undefeateds and there were only TWO 1-loss teams in the country (one was Kansas who lost in their conference championship game, the other Ohio State).
