It's a good thing he got kicked off of the team to purge that loser mindset. Otherwise, UAB could be winless!
(Imagine my tongue in my cheek as you read that. I'm jesting, but you know what they say about jests.)
Yeah, I was thinking the same thing . We'd be a good bit better offensively if we still had JW. But it is what it is.

Not to beat a dead horse, but with JJ out, our most experienced wideout suddenly is Staples.
Let that sink in a minute.

Not a bad problem to have though...............a 6'4" WR, with good hands.

He's good, to be sure, and I see no ceiling on his potential, but experience-wise, he's it, and he was playing high school ball this time last year.
Therein lies my concern.

Not to beat a dead horse but losing JW, however it went down, was a mistake. Punish him, discipline him, do whatever, then put his ass on the field. I still have a hard time believing the kid who was in the stands sitting with UAB fans, as a UAB fan, was that disruptive or detremental to team chemistry. Still breaks my heart. Of course, so many things around here do.

Some forget how it may have helped Brown to have such veteran skill guys (Williams, Hearn, and Adams) last season to where he is now. That allowed JJ,Jay, and Kennard to grow a bit to what we see this season. Backman is a beast and shouldn't ever come off the field let him get some of the slot.

And I have a hard time believing McGee would dismiss one of his stars after a 3-9 year unless there was a damn good reason. I blame Jackie for screwing up.

We could have been 3 points worse than a very bad team.
We were clutch Saturday night at a point in the game that we'd folded in earlier games.
That's something to build on, opponent be damned.

RE: Give McGee Credit
this whole thread confuses me because I didn't think we were allowed to give McGee credit for anything.

RE: Give McGee Credit
After the whole season "shakes out" we will know where UAB stands in C-USA. We are capable of winning every remaining game if we can play consistently intense football for all four quarters. Against weaker teams we might get away with more errors than against some of the others. We just don't know for sure yet which is which. As LSU illustrated in 2000 and Michigan a few years ago, even a good team can have a bad game and lose to a better playing foe. UAB must play at or near its best every week for the rest of this season to be that "better playing foe".

LSU in 2000 was good enough to go 8-4, and knock off a 9-3 Georgia Tech team in the Peach Bowl 28-14. Maybe not up to The Hat's LSU standard, but still not half bad. I don't remember Michigan losing to Youngstown (not saying they didn't), they did lose to Appalachian State though, went on to go 9-4 and beat Florida in the Gator Bowl.

Bingo MB. And the years we beat Baylor in 2003-04, they were 3-8. Nowhere near the program they have now under Fart Briles.
