BG down 14-10 at MSU. Miss St driving toward the end of the half. Their running QB burned for a 75 yard run earlier. Its on SPS in Atlanta if any of you can get that.

Boo Boo gates booted for targeting....would have been 4th down.

Ouch BG just lost Boo Boo Gates due to the new targeting rule. TD Miss St. on the very next play. 21-10 Mississippi State

Akron held NIU to 1-15 on 3rd downs. Looking forward to playing Miami next week.

The Akron DL did a great job. Unlike the KSU game where we just dominated up front the Akron DL did a good job plugging us up and even getting into our backfield a lot forcing Lynch into bad passes.

That was the first time a team did that to us up front. Not even Iowa contained our offense as well as you guys did.

BG just held them to a FG that hit the post. BG getting the ball back! Still down by 1.

Lynch played just as poorly as Akron played good. Not to discredit Akron, but Lynch really did not execute at all.

MSU going to pull it out against the Falcons, 21-20. I didn't know what Clawson was thinking on the last drive, he had a third and long and they run it (for no gain) and didn't call a timeout (they had all three) with fourth down coming up. Good game nonetheless.

MSU was pinning their ears back and blitzing on every down, the call was not bad, it just did not work because the defense stunted right into the ball carrier...ironically the defender in his face was named Chris Jones. He forced Hopgood to stop in his tracks and try to reverse but couldn't. I understand the call but I would have used roll outs with Johnson on the last several downs. They hadn't stopped that all night long.

MAC Football - Week 7 Games
If past voting in the polls holds true, NIU will drop in the polls for not blowing out Akron at home.

We really do not belong in the polls at this point anyway. If we beat BSU and Toledo than yeah..I can see it. But every game it seems like we expose a new weakness. Not good.

Funny how often execution suffers when the opponent plays well.

RE: MAC Football - Week 7 Games
We play down or up to our competition and haven't been putting teams away when we have the opportunity. Our offense was just flat the entire game and Lynch was missing simple short passes he usually easily hits. Akron DL should get credit for disrupting us most of the game though. Our OL did not look too good. I do think we have a tougher than we thought game at CMU next Saturday.

I still have no reason to think we won't go undefeated. Can we lose? Sure. But just when you think a team in this conference looks good they come out and look beatable or lose the next game (i.e. Ohio losing to CMU and BSU needing a late 4th down conversion to beat Kent St).

UMass driving late in the 4th quarter, 17-10 Minutemen. On the verge of winning their first game in Gillette.

Massachusett's flagship school wins!!!

(I didn't know UMass was considered Massachusett's flagship school but I saw the commercial).

UMass, Ohio and UB must all be flagships...

Yep, we are Massachusetts' flagship campus. Or is it Massachusetts's? It's definitely not Massachusett's though. :)

Also, UMass has now defeated 1/6 of the conference at least once. Baby steps. And, it feels good to win at home. 02-13-bananaCOGS

Lucky for you, there's a lot of people voting in polls who have not put NIU under the microscope ... NIU are undefeated, they have beat two (weak) BigTen team, they won the MAC last year, got to put them in there somewhere.

Lucky for you as long as you keep winning, that is. Top25 puts you in a higher profile position ~ top25 roundups, ESPN's online scoreboard defaults to games with Top25 schools, etc.

I agree NIU seems to play down to their competition.

As far as NIU's standing in the polls, they might move up a little later today.

There will be a LOT of shuffling in the polls as there were a lot of upsets which means a lot of teams will be moving down AND a number of teams will be moving up (earned by defeating those teams who are moving down).

Most of the teams between 16 - 25 were either upset or beat a higher ranked team.

Seven teams in the top 25 lost, so I think NIU will stay in the rankings...could drop a spot I suppose. It would be worse but many voters will remember Akron played Meechigan tough and I think that'll help NIU to some degree.
