Mazdas, don't forget Mazdas. I have noticed around here every time I see an Obama '08 sticker on a car it is on a Mazda. Saw two this morning.

Mazda's are such awkward cars to work on... ugly as well.

Ha. My company is VERY (I mean VERY) conservative, both socially and fiscally. There are 5 Mazda's, 2 of which owned by the owners of the company, in the parking lot. My office mate has 1 at home (her husband drives it).

My wife had one when we met. I couldn't kill the thing. I carried a hammer with me when I drove it because sometimes it would keep cutting off when I'd slip it in neutral. When that happened, I'd open the hood and pound the schit out of the EGR valve and it would run fine for a few days until it would repeat. As you said, it is awkward as hell and I would have had to spend hours taking schit apart to get to actually replacing the EGR valve. It also wouldn't start half the time so I'd have to jiggle the battery cables and sometimes even take off the terminals and soak them in gas overnight.

Never put $1 into it other than on $25 used tires. Didn't change the oil once. About 2 years ago I sold it for $300 to a recovering drug addict trying to get his life back together. It had over 200k miles on it. Every now and then we see the guy driving it around town so it is still running. The think was a nightmare though.
