Facts
Houston in 2001 went 0-11.
UCF went 0-11 in 2004 which included a 17 game losing streak.
SMU a few years removed from a national scandal went 0-12.
In 2007 went 1-11. It was in the middle of a stretch where it went 1-21 with the one win over a FCS team.
Southern Miss went 0-11 last year and is in the middle of the nation's longest losing streak. I think it stands at 17 games.

No I don't think UAB has hit rock bottom. Do I like where we are? Hell no but the crap is flowing so thick around here you can cut it with a butter knife.

I realize everyone is butt hurt about losing to Troy and FAU (I for one am not happy about it either) but what on God's green earth says we are better than either team? We have overall losing records to both programs. Both have won multiple conference championships and both have been to and won multiple bowl games. What has UAB done to show you we are a better football team? Hell this year was the first time in at least 6 years I can honestly say we had at least equal talent starter wise to Troy.

Reality is UAB is two or three plays from being right where most predicted them to be. No it doesn't change our record and we have many problems to fix but let's also get a firm grip on reality and recognize where we are in the food chain and recognize that while we show signs of life and we still have a ways to go in getting to respectability. It's not the end of the world.

Reality is it will take two more recruiting classes before we can think about a conference championship. We have some talent, just not enough of it and yes the jury is still out on these coaches. There is not one thing wrong at UAB. It's multiple things.

That's my take.......................

Actually the longest losing streak in Division I-A is Northwestern at 34 games 1979-1982.

Since UAB is not in any position to be embarrassed any longer, I hope we "pull out all stops" in an all out effort to play everyone who can contribute Saturday in Miami.

He meant longest current losing streak, which is accurate.

When we lose to FIU, we should demote Coach McGee and promote Kevin Peoples to Head Coach(hes the only one doing anything in recruiting for us anyways.).

He was a HUGE get. I was hoping he would be the one promoted to DC, but we'll see what Williams does.

So these results, about 1.5 years into McGee's coaching career, are all according to plan? Would anyone here have been happy with 4 wins this far into McGee's tenure, had we known that's how it was going to play out? You seem like your defending him and that beating 2 d1 teams in the last 14 months or so is exactly where we should be. What gives? How can you defend these results so far? You point to about 3 three examples of utter failures in college football history. Uab is about one ladder rung above that right now. You also seem to suggest that uab needs to "learn its place." So are we going to be perennial 2-4 game winners throughout our programs lifetime?

His post seemed to be defending him. "Recognize where we are in the food chain" that seems like we should be content with the job McGee has done

It's been an on-going process at UAB for almost ten years: ratcheting down expectations while the program slides. At first it was Cincinnati and Louisville we shouldn't be expected to compete with, then SMU, Tulsa, or Tulane. Now it's established powers like Troy and FAU. FIU and USM have both been to bowls recently so no reason to expect wins there either I guess.

Good thing we don't play Samford. With their own BOT and on-campus stadium, how could we compete?

We could settle all this noise (at least for a week) by putting a country ass-whoopin' on FIU.

Well you went from a mike Davis in flames picture to saying how good of a job he was doing, so what was someone with half a brain supposed to deduce from your sudden turnaround?

For the 100th time, I never had a Mike Davis in flames picture. I had a pic of flames (fire) and a separate pic of Mike Davis. The message was "fire Mike Davis". The message appeared after half the team was declared ineligible and he ran off a great player (Huffman) to give a scholarship to a player who never made it. All of those transgressions are worse than anything McGee has done. I did become more supportive when players started graduating and we won CUSA. Minds can be changed.

Southern Miss was 0-12 last year. People keep saying 0-11. Remember, every game counts. Especially when you're trying to win an argument.
