you will NEVER get an invite to the SEC or ACC, you will never be thought of nationally as on the same level as unc or ncsu. and heres why.....

1. your academic's are not very good
theres no getting around this. they are flat out terrible. in fact you would be the worst ranked power school.....

2. your name isnt well known.
it is not a brand thats well known nationally and whenever someone says "east carolina" it gets put in the same class as "northern colorado, northern iowa, or eastern illinois." regardless of how good your school is in academics or football you can not escape your "directional school" status.

on the other CFB board that i also post on. there was a UNC troll thread for losing to "a directional school" and a lot of comments like "i didnt know that school existed". and TBH, before the AAC move i didnt know a thing about ECU either

3. you are not special.
and this is my favorite "delusional thought process" example. ECU fans act like they are a lot better than the seem. they portray ECU as this school thats on the same level as middle of the pack BCS schools. ECU is by no means "special" in fact they are so "special" that the AAC/big east opted to invite UCF, SMU, Houston, Temple, & Memphis as FULL members with Navy as a football only member AHEAD of ECU. and if thats not enough the same day they added you as a football only member they opted to add Tulane as a FULL member.

when they finally got around to upgrading ECU to full membership status, they did it right around the time tulsa got the same status.

yes thats right, the big east/AAC valued 7 other schools over ECU including 2-10 memphis, and 2-10 tulane aka & "mr. 12k attendance". but hey at least they got added with the university of tulsa aka, "mr. 3,000 enrollment"

i have never seen a school get publicly outed by another conference the way ECU & tulane did during conf. realignment. yes pirate fans, you are the school that got referenced to "if added....it would be like jumping off a ledge"

this is why im so baffled by these "SEC wants ECU" comments. the big east & AAC didnt want ECU at first. so what has happened in the last 3 years to suddenly make ECU the most desired g5 school in CFB?

4. theres no room for you.
calling you guys a "little brother" school is a major understatement. you guys take being a "little brother" to a whole new level. you guys are more like little brothers imaginary friend. and no one wants a school that low on the chopping block. being the 3rd best public school in cali or texas is one thing. being the 3rd best public school in north carolina isnt that much of an accomplishment.

oh and lets not forget the privates. ECU would be the 5th power school from one state. only texas has that many....and no offense to the UNC, ncsu, wf & dookies on this board.....but the state of NC is no texas.........

NC cant support a 5th power school....no power conference needs the prestige of having the 5th best program from the state of NC

5. your mascot uni's & logo suck
-maybe there's some historical reference to it, however "pirates" sounds too high schoolish. sure two pro teams and a few NCAA teams have a pirate mascot, however they dont actually call themselves "pirates" . pirates is not a traditional college mascot. its used mainly by high schools & B list sports teams with one exception. (pittsburgh the worst MLB franchise in the last 2 decades). so when I think of "go pirates!!!!" i associate that with high school or minor league

-the logo looks like it came straight out of a cartoon. I really dont know what else to say about this.

-the black uniforms with purple & yellow look awful. the cross bones on the helmet look childish.

sure PLENTY of other schools have an issue with maybe their name, or maybe their logo, or maybe their uni.

but with ECU its much different because they have issues in every single aspect of their brand/image. its so childish, so gimmicky, and so cheap that whenever i see their logo or watch them play they look like a team i created on teambuilder in ncaa gamebreaker 2003 or some B list sports movie that couldnt obtain the naming rights to a real team so they made up an imaginary team.

now i can hear ECU fans getting all ticked off over this, but thats only because the truth hurts. you need a moment for someone to do this to you:

this school, more than any other FBS school needs a total facelift. they need a new name, logo, & mascot before i can ever take them seriously.

they act like they are equivalent to the likes of georgia tech or ucla but when in reality they are more like san jose state

cicny & uconn fans have some leeway here cuz they have an outside shot

ECU is just straight up no shot
