I disagree, I think Doughty has been pretty solid today.

He wasn't when I said it. WKU was awful in the first quarter, but really turned it up from there. I was impressed by the whole team, aside from the lack of discipline from the offensive line.

Good win. I'll go eat my crow.

Sean Conway was out again today at Center who is the anchor of our OL...RS FR is trying but he had at least 4 penalties today..I hope Conway is back soon...

So the made up call was on him. What the Heck is an "Illegal Snap"? Also guessing he had the sticky fingers on the scramble plays? Can't blame that kid too much.

We have got some super talent on D, it's just a matter of things clicking together, which they finally did. I'm excited about the ULM game, thinking about making a drive down to Monroe for the game. We held one of the most efficent offenses in the nation to only 7 points. The D really stepped up and AA played like a man. Very happy with this win.

An Illegal snap is when the center picks the ball up off the ground and then places it back on the ground without snapping it.

Is that what happened to Georgia when the center though Murray was under center when he was in shotgun?

I did not see the play and would not know. I've seen a couple times where that happened though, Center picks it up to give it to QB, finds out he's in the shotgun, and tries to quickly put the ball back on the ground to re-snap it. Its the very definition of an illegal snap.

You rarely see it. I know it happened to the pigs last week because I had a friend send me a mid game text message asking what an illegal snap was. Its essentially a version of a false start on the center...just without the OL moving.

RE: Navy@WKU Game Thread: FINAL - WKU wins 19-7
i got to watch the game last night after work.

the backup center is a rs freshman. he did pick the ball up. 5 yards on us. ed hazelett is a rs senior and had 2 of the holds. i think he's our weakest lineman.

the defense played their best game. a lot of that was due to andrew jackson clocking reynolds right before the half knocking him out of the game. 260 > 185. it was clean hit on an option play where jackson had full steam when he crumpled him. totally clean play. their backup couldn't run the option very well and we also adjusted and negated the fullback up the middle.

on offense andrews was andrews. the tv guy....former nfl lb kept going on about aa saying he had every tool to play on sundays. so much for all the mtsu fans that said we couldn't run the ball after bobby rainey left.

our receivers did a much better job of catching catchable balls. doughty looked very solid especially in his decision making.

huge game for us in funroe thursday night. every time we've played them in the browning era has been a classic. that loss last year spiraled our season down.

we're not a machine on offense but it's nice to have andrews in the backfield. he's a great kid. very respectful military kid out of fort campbell. petrino loves him. one of the hardest workers on the team so he deserves the love he's getting.

on dee we still need to get some push from the line. back 7 played great yesterday like i've expected them to all year.

btw....they said western had been working on defending the option since the spring since we had both army and navy on the schedule. someone intimated willie didn't work on til 3 days before we played them...lol.

western showed there's hope for the remaining sunbelt schools against the vaunted option.....knock the starter out.

... What?

It's a rare penalty, but real. And it was very obvious he did it on TV.

It happened right in front of me and I didn't notice it happening. The refs talked about it for a lil bit so I figured they just pulled a rare call out of their butt to flag someone. If it was visible on tv then ok. was just odd to me the way it played out.

Classic analysis Beed. It is as if you were there. I think it was early last year when each victory seemed to have Jackson (or one of his buddies) putting the opponent's star player out with a good, clean hit. I really hope Browning doesn't play this Thursday. He could really get hurt given that he is already gimpy. Either way I think The Hilltoppers will win.

thanks dudley. even tho i have great season tix i had to work. watching it on the dvr let me replay several key plays. when i heard andrew put the qb out i was worried it was helmet to helmet or late.

it was a hard clean hit. both of the boyd brothers are punishing people and jackson is being jackson. chuck franks is laying licks too.

if ulm runs a gimpy browning out he could get stuck on a regular football play.
