JMU To CUSA?
Keep hearing rumors that JMU will be in CUSA. Others stating that it is a done deal. Others claiming that an announcement to CUSA could come as early as October 4. We shall see.

in a word, why for CUSA? Makes no sense at all on their side. That's 15 then? Surely they won't have an odd number.

RE: JMU To CUSA?
interesting thought- saw it on the CUSA boards...

UTEP goes to the MWC with this....

On the MWC side, I wonder if they were able to get BYU in- not sure of all sports, or what if just football??? Their deal would be similar to Boise's.

Yeah, I'm not sure what to make of a pending departure. I assume it will happen, especially if JMU comes it. But if the departure doesn't happen, have to wonder who will be #16?

Perhaps something is simmering and beginning to boil with the advent of the new FBS Division proposal. With BYU in the WCC and believing the WCC want's no part of providing that division, then I can see BYU having no choice to be part of the MW and the MW will only want BYU for all sports.

That's what I was thinking. BYU could be impacted by the Division IV proposal.

If BYU leaves, there is really 1 interesting team out west then. Gonzaga. I wonder if you could see the MWC pick up UTEP, BYU all sports, Gonzaga non football(to complement with Hawaii). 14 teams.

Over on the Sun Belt Board, a "knowledgeable" poster who claims to have talked to JMU athletic administrators, states that JMU along with Delaware are being considered for the MAC. And JMU is being considered by CUSA.

I have been on the JMU campus. Many of their students are drawn from the Washington, DC area of Northern Virginia. If I were CUSA, I would snap up JMU in a big hurry...and add Missouri State on the west side of CUSA.

Except Hawaii will probably want in for all sports because the Big West won't be part of the stipend division. Then the MW can go to divisions for the olympic sports to ease travel.

The MAC and Illinois St. have been talking to each other forever. Illinois St. needs to make that move now if they can and if the MAC is still interested.

Would hate to see us trade UTEP for JMU.

Losing UTEP would only make CUSA an even weaker basketball conference.

Would rather go to 16 than lose UTEP.

OR

CUSA losing a CUSA E team to the AAC and JMU is the replacement.

As I predicted in my "Aresco is Talking 14 Again" post a couple of weeks ago:

Air Force and Army to American
UTEP to MWC
C-USA backfills

My concern there is AFA. I don't think they leave their closest geographic rivals (CSU, Wyo, UNM) and would have to move their other sports out of the MWC just be in the same conference as Navy. I think it could be much more likely that Arkansas St. joins JMU in CUSA and CUSA goes to 16.

Don't see CUSA going to 16. Think it's UTEP leaving or someone on the CUSA board from WKY was mentioning they might not leave the Sun Belt...

Yes it does! This Appfan not so much wanted to be in the CUSA as wanted JMU be with App in whatever FBS conference we moved to whether it be SBC, CUSA, or MAC. What worries me is the SBC conference looking into westward expansion.
