PTJR previously noted that the Las Vegas paper got their info about Chris from Wally Hall. Here is the paper's summary of Chris' credentials-
Chris Peterson
Arkansas-Little Rock athletic director
Peterson’s reputation at the school is similar to that of Livengood.
“He’s a real good fundraiser,” said Wally Hall, a columnist at the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette.
In 2005, the Trojans opened the Jack Stephens Center, a new $25 million basketball facility. Hall said Peterson was able to help build that arena without the use of any tax money.
Hall also spoke of Peterson changing UALR from a commuter school to a place where there are regular, well-attended campus events.
“The fans love him,” Hall said. “He sits down at the scorer’s table during basketball games so people can come up and talk to him.”
Hall guessed that Peterson has turned down up to four jobs in the past but there’s one thing that could get him to leave: football.
Peterson played quarterback at Kansas State and Wisconsin-Milwaukee before coaching in the college ranks for several years. He went back to Kansas State as an assistant athletic director at the same time the Wildcats revitalized the football program by hiring Bill Snyder. Peterson also has connections to Nebraska legend Tom Osborne.
UALR is the only member of the Sun Belt Conference without a football team.
“He’d love that,” Hall said. “He likes a challenge.”

WH is referring to the fact that students come out in force for our one rivalry game and stay past halftime for homecoming. And it happened under his watch.

Of course WH sees it that way. That is when WH is there too.
Those 1.5 times he is there are the best it will be.
I hope Chris gets the job. I would almost move all this to the pvt board to insure that has a better chance but I can't imagine anyone in power at unlv reading our board.

He changed UALR from a commuter school to a school with well attended campus events. I'm sure the chancellor got a laugh out of that one. Several people told me this week that it was Porter who got the Stephens family interested in building the arena on campus. That Chris had little to do with it. Is that true? I don't have a clue. And to be fair, the folks who told me this were certainly not fans of Chris.

The reality of the matter is that Frank Broyles got the Stephens family interested in helping UALR athletics more than anything.
In 2000 the great stadium debate occurred about whether UAF would continue to play football games in LR. Frank Broyles was less than kind to the Stephens family about their support of continuing games in Little Rock. This was in spite of the fact that the Stephens family had been more than huge supporters of his program through the years. This was about the time that Porter Moser became our coach and Peterson became the athletic director. My guess is that neither one of those guys was responsible for Jack Stephens deciding to give UALR $22 Million for an on campus arena. Being pissed off at Broyles was clearly the driving force behind that! UALR was just the best place for Stephens to direct his support instead of Fayetteville at that time.
