On a drive that started with 7:27 minutes left in the 1st quarter with the Buckeyes already up 20-0(missed 2pt conversion) Meyer decides to go for it on 4th down TWICE inside the FAMU 25yd line, including a 4th and 8 from the 11. Let that sink in for a minute.

I mentioned this earlier, but that is not running up the score. When you are killing an opponent, it is considered taboo to kick a field goal. You can choose to agree or not (and some don't) but THAT is the way you are supposed to do it when it is a blowout. You go for it or punt it.

It's the idea that someone is running up the score after the first touchdown that I find bewildering.

I think the issue here is continuing to run up the score after the 7th touchdown over a scoreless and inferior opponent...

On paper, I agree, but it's terribly difficult to tell a third string player not to give it his all.

Sure an offense could run plays designed to net just a yard or two, but if a benchwarmer left guard creates a big enough hole that allows a fourth on the depth chart ball carrier to go 30-yards… what can you do.

Sometimes it's a damn if you do, damn if you don't situation.

Tressle was famous for taking a knee on four-straight plays inside the opposing teams twenty to end a game, then the next day sport pundits would criticize the fact that the Buckeyes only won by ten-points.

RE: Scheduling Mismatches
One could defend Meyer running up the score for the same reason Louisville is...their schedules are really weak and they both need "style" points in every win.

Washington State 42-0 vs. Idaho
Ohio State 76-0 vs. Florida A&M

Miami 77-7 vs. Savannah State
Louisville 72-0 vs. FIU
Washington 56-0 vs. Idaho State
Florida State 54-6 vs. BEthune-Cookman

How do these mismatched games help build the game.

Big paycheck for those FCS schools, and a on field scrimmage for the FBS guys.

Also, nobody has a gun put to their heads to sign those contracts, either.

Lots of folks talk a good game, but none seem to want to write out a $950k check for the likes of FAMU to keep their athletics department running for some reason...I don't get it. Anyway, if FAMU is any good, it doesn't affect their chance at a playoff run. But, they get paid.

Wait for bouncyball season when smaller schools are on 15-game roadies to start the season to pay the bills again.
