Holgorsen is a good coordinator, but not a program builder. There's a huge difference between the two.

RE: Kragthorope'd
Holgorsen wasn't fully prepared to be a head coach, which was why WVU originally wanted to phase him into place. But Stew trying to undermine his replacement speeded up the process, which I think was detrimental to his development as a coach...

I still think he can turn it all around. All he needs is someone to step up at QB. He got the defense fixed...

If only we could put this year's defense with last year's offense...

RE: Kragthorope'd
I think the downtrend for WVU right now is natural. The problem for WVU is that I am not sure there is an easy way to turn it around as would normally be possible.

WVU has to be one of the highest ranked programs in terms of the amount of travel it has to make during the football season. That is a very negative thing for many recruits. It is going to be hard for Holgerson to reload while he is fighting that uphill battle.

I think WVU fans will have to keep the bigger picture in mind and not resort to the usual quick reaction of blaming the man instead of blaming the situation the man was put into.

If you get rid of him do you Really think you will get a better coach to step into this situation? Hang on to him and ride out the storm. Hopefully there is some movement soon and the situation will change for WVU.

It doesn't seem to be hurting our recruiting. It doesn't look like it this year, because we don't have many scholarships to offer. But we're doing okay in that respect...

Bit, it might be the wrong time for West Virginia program's history to be headed South, because it appears that some more dominoes may start falling again and very soon! 07-coffee3

No thanks. WVU needs a coach that will stick around for a while, and Petrino will always have wandering eyes...

I'd much prefer the Mountaineers reconsider Holliday, if they decide a change is in order...

But WVU isn't at that point yet, even though there is a very vocal minority that wants to return to the days of Eddie Pastilong and RR. Those days are gone, and will never return again...

Doc Holliday isn't doing too shabby at Marshall. He almost pulled out the upset over VT yesterday, and the Herd was at a big disadvantage in talent...

And Holliday does have major inroads in the State of Florida for Recruiting...but I think Petrino has learned his lesson about the wondering eye...he would still be at Arkansas if not for the motorcycle incident.

That wasn't caused by a wandering eye. That happened because his little head took over the thinking - and he's a lousy bike rider to boot...

I never thought that Dana Holgorsen was a very good head coach and I have experience at watching bad coaches (Gerry Faust, Bob Davie, Ty Willingham and Charlie Weis).

I think that Dana fits in with these guys, head coaching ability wise.

This. He is a total scumbag, but it's not like I would be inviting him over for Thanksgiving.

But IMO he never should have been selected as the coach. I was hoping Doc Holliday got the job. When he didn't, he went to Marshall, and he's done a pretty good job there. He'd have done even better as the head man in Morgantown...

We definitely have segments of our fanbase that wanted Doc after DickRod. I was not in the Bowden, Doc, or Skip Holtz camp. Although it probably put me in the minority, I wanted Jerry Moore to finish his career in Morgantown. Despite his age, he could have stepped in for a smooth(er) transition than any other candidate on our list in my opinion.

Didn't Huggy Bear take them to their first final four in over 50 years?
