USA 2014 Baseball Schedule
http://www.usajaguars.com/schedule.aspx?path=baseball&

Out of conference opponents include:

3 game series @ Arkansas
3 game series vs. Southern Illinois
@ Mississippi State
@ Auburn
@ LSU
Home and Home with Southern Miss
Home and Home with Southeastern Louisiana

The conference schedule is unbalanced again; USA plays two series against Troy. I'm just not a fan of an unbalanced schedule, but it is what it is. It's kind of interesting that USA is playing Arkansas in basketball and baseball this year. I wish ASU could get a shot at them. At least Alabama and Auburn will schedule USA/Troy in baseball. Football and basketball is a different story.

I'm not a fan of it either. I'm assuming our combo will be the Bobcats Would rather not have to play them six times.

RE: USA 2014 Baseball Schedule
The unbalanced schedule is just plain dumb. Do we not have 10 baseball teams in this? 3x9=27 conference games. Is there a requirement that lends itself to doing the double dip? The B12 only has 9 (=24 conference games) baseball playing schools and they don't play anyone twice.

TXST has no problem getting OOC games to make a legit 51-55 game season.

^Neither does UTA. Our schedules can be fairly similar. With the plethora of quality baseball teams in Texas, it isn't an issue. The only team I see on y'all's schedule that we don't play is Rice, for whatever reason.

The Cajuns are looking forward to hosting Alabama for a three game series this year, and we play LSU again but I dont know if its home or away. We typically play Tulane and Houston as well. I'm looking forward to seeing the complete schedule.

Our softball team will have a killer home and OOC schedule this year as well.

This years baseball schedule is a 1 year deal. We'll have 11 teams once App and GSU come in and will be able to play everyone once each.

That's good to know. In some ways, I feel bad for the Bobcats. Thanks in large part to conference realignment, they haven't played us at their place since 2010. For whatever reason, we played at Clay Gould in '11 and '12 when we were in the SLC, then they came to our place in our lone season in the WAC. Now it seems they will come to UTA in our first season in the Belt. Unfortunately, we were only 5-4 during that stretch.

The coaches have been pretty adamant about a 30-game league schedule since we dipped below 11 teams; one of the main reasons is not having to find another non-conference weekend.

That was the same thing I heard. Its hard to find competitive non league opponents once we get to the point when all the big leagues start play.

I don't see how. I'm not saying it is wrong. But UTA, with an average ballpark, has hosted Baylor, TCU, A&M and maybe OU during midweek games. If UTA can do it, certainly most of the rest could too.

We're talking weekend series...not midweek games. We all can get midweek games against in state Big Schools at home (unless you are ASU) Its finding a nonconference weekend series when most leagues are in the middle of league play that is the problem.

I hear you, but what I mean is that come March, April or May, there is one or two mid-week games per month. Plus there are lots of conferences with ten or less teams. Conferences in our footprint with ten or less teams include the Big XII, WAC, Atlantic Sun, C-USA, Missouri Valley and the SWAC. There are several more that have less than ten close by as well. It shouldn't be that hard.

Its doable, but coaches have generally been against it. I think another thing to keep in mind is RPI. We were a top 6 league last season, and generally hang around that number every year. The top 3 or 4 teams are pushing for an At Large NCAA bid. It becomes a choice for coaches of playing a 300+ RPI SWAC school for three games or a 100 RPI SBC school...they are going to choose the latter.

I think there are better ways to do it than playing the same team 6 times every year. Certainly ASU has gotten a huge benefit from being able to beat UALR 11 times out of 13 the last few years.

I caught our schedule. A little shocked we aren't playing UofH this year. Been a 3 game series for quite a while now. Guess they got tired of losing to TXST.

March @ San Marcos
May @ Arlington

A little break for us.
