why would uab give no other option to buy tickets for that one game?
You act like there will be some big swath of empty seats at the game. They will sell every one of them, they don't need to do anything to make them easier to buy.

Agreed. There is always the ebay or stubhub option.

no i'm worried about the opposite. i'm assuming that probably all the tickets will sell out and those who don't want to pay the $100 price will be left out

Think of it as paying $40 to see UAB, $40 to see UNC, and $20 for a seat.

Um, ok? Since when is it supposed to work that way? Athletics needs to make as much money as possible, since it's a net negative financially (we're going to ignore intangibles here). Supply and demand means those tickets are going to be as expensive as possible without leaving a seat unsold.
There's a limited number of seats. At any price there will be people for this particular game that won't get to go. Why do you think with the seats being cheaper that people willing to pay $100 won't pay $30? The seats being cheaper won't magically make it more available to you, except that I suppose you're not willing to pay $100. I simply cannot wrap my head around the argument that since this particular game is insanely popular and will have incredible demand, somehow the tickets should be *cheaper*.
Plus, it's good marketing to get people out to other games that season. There are a lot of UNC fans in Birmingham that will buy those tickets. There are a lot of unaffiliated fans who will buy those tickets, and there are probably some UAB fans who have dropped out of going to games that will get excited and come back for UNC. Well, now they have tickets to more games this year that probably won't sell for very much, so hey, got a Saturday or a Thursday with nothing going on, let's go to a UAB game.

UNC @ UAB is usually $15?
Was it even that cheap when they came for the NIT?

You state that you don't want to pay $100 for a single game and that you are limited to attending 1 game due to distance? It looks like the issue is your schedule. Maybe you should select a different game, that still fits your tight schedule and tight budget?

Answer, unfortunately those of us who can only make 1 or 2 games per year are not the target marketing audience for the UNC game. It is rightfully being used to drive season ticket and multi-pack sales for those who support the program by attending more games. We need butts in seats all year not just for one big home game.
I can only imagine the stir if UAB had some of the football and basketball ticket policies that our conference mates have.

RE: Single Game Mens BBall Tickets
Answer, it's unfortunate that you can only attend that one game but the athletic dept has to do what's in their best interest. By including the UNC game in the 6 game pack, UAB is forcing UNC fans to pay $100 for one game. The game will sell out regardless so why not make UNC fans pay a little extra and make more money?
Plus, it also drives attendance for the other 5 games in the pack for UAB fans that might not have been to many games recently or UNC fans that live in Bham and may want to come back to another game since they already bought the tickets.

I heard one time from a Louisville resident, although not confirmed, that Louisville required all season ticket holders for basketball to also purchase football season tickets.

RE: Single Game Mens BBall Tickets
If base tickets remain the same price this year ($12), that means the UNC game is equivalent to $39. However, by spreading it across six games, the average price is still decent whilst also giving you better seats than GA.

I guess you have to decide if watching UAB play UNC in Bartow Arena is worth $100 to be assured a ticket, or if you are willing to gamble on there being tickets left when the single game tix become available. Otherwise, you will be stuck trying to buy tix on StubHub for more that $100 a pop or not seeing the game live.

I guarantee any single tickets you buy on the secondary market will be $100 or more, why not buy the pack from UAB directly and guarantee the ticket doesn't go to a UNC fan

Plus, nearly every season ticket holder was required to up their Blazer Booster donations in the last two seasons to keep their current seats for this year... we're all in the same boat, but I gladly stroked that check to assure I had my seats right where I want them.

If you only want to watch the national championship game, maybe they'll cut you a deal.

RE: Single Game Mens BBall Tickets
I will admit, this news sucks for me. I now live 10+ hours away. In the past, I've gone to as many basketball games as possible. This year, it just so happens that I will be home at the time UNC will be in town. However, I would have gone to see UAB play no matter who was coming to town.
There's just no way it makes financial sense for my family of 4 to have to pay $400 to only be able to see that one game...which is a bummer. We've been going through UAB sports withdrawals since moving up this way.

RE: Single Game Mens BBall Tickets
The other 5 games are some of the most competitive within the conference. I fear lots of empty seats when the team really needs folks there(even though I don't expect anywhere near a sellout for them). I suspect the ticket office will oversell those games, though.
