Look, there is no doubt athletes are bigger, faster and stronger than a decade ago and so much more than the '70's and '80's. Something had to be done. Are you saying that players are so much more wussier than those that wore leather helms? Should we go back to those? There is only so much technological advances that can be made. Sooner or later, rule changes had to be made. Some may be overreacting, but science is beginning to show that high school kids and younger are having long term brain issues because of hard contact.

Safety should be paramount.

If "safety is paramount", why not ban the forward pass or routes over the middle? Why is it that the defender just has to stand there and let the receiver catch the ball and grant permission to be tackled?

No one is forced to play the game. If a team id gaining yards going over the middle (which is hard to defend without interfering) then the way you stop that is to make the receiver wish he never caught the ball. Next time he'll be thinking about the hit that's coming. That's American Football. You and the people worried about getting hurt need to go play soccer.

As for the NFL, those guys are freakishly big, strong, and fast. They are modern day gladiators and are well paid for what they do. Football rules should never be based on what the NFL does. The NFL and every other level is comparing apples to trains.

The way things are going, we may as well put flags on the hips and run 7 on 7 with a pass clock. The event could be sponsored by Vagisil and the players could receive a lifetime supply.

It's always been that way. A new wrinkle emerges it looks invincible, more adopt it, defenses adjust and it no longer is invincible.

It's not going to come down to recruiting. It's going to come down to having a legit strength and conditioning coach. More Olympic style training and free weights for agility. Also your going to have to do a lot of cardio training.

Chip Kelly who started this just took Rich Rod's spread and put it on steroids. A few teams figured out that you can beat the spread if you have enough DBs that can keep up with the WRs. Kelly just figured he would tire those on defense out.
