SBC Football Countdown - Complete
or 0 so I'll put our mascot info as he wear's #0.
In 1920, Texas State adopted its first official mascot, the bobcat, at the urging of Oscar Strahan, who became the school's athletic director in 1919. Strahan suggested the bobcat because the cat is native to central Texas and is known for its fierceness.
In 1964 the bobcat was given an official name of "Boko" by Beth Greenless, a sophomore from Luling, Texas, who beat out about 100 other students in a "Name the Bobcat" contest, sponsored by Phi Delta Gamma sorority, now Alpha Xi Delta.
Her winning submission earned her a $5 prize and the honor of being the individual who named the Texas State mascot. Boko has twice been named National Mascot Champion.
There was not a whole bunch of participation in this. I did not miss a day; even when I was on vacation or worked a weird shift. I will do this again next year and hope others will find the time to post their players (or tag team it odd and even with another poster). I do know a guy that does App on the CSD forum. Maybe he'll show here next summer.
