RE: Unofficial 2014 FB Recruiting Thread
Well we talked about the importance of assistants in recruiting and right now we might have one assistant? two if Hart is in. Again there are a number of players were EMU is their only Div I offer. I guess we'll see. Mid year JUCOs should have signed by now so I imagine this class will not have any.

Visiting with Hickey on January 17, I think this player is a sleeper and can play rb or lb:

Luckily their are a few other schools with coaching staffs that are still being assembled.

Again, folks need to chill. Why would I say that?

They are building nice scenarios built on very incomplete data.

Normally, ignorance is bliss, but in this case, probably not.

Example:

Proposition: Assistant coaches do most of the recruiting.

Proposition2: The ACs are public knowledge.

Proposition3: We have one or two known ACs.

Conclusion: Therefore, recruiting is in the toilet.

It is my understanding that we have more than 1 or 2 AC coaches which invalidates the 3rd proposition which invalidates the whole conclusion.

Bottom line is that we don't know what we don't know...

Ditto for hoops. Again we don't know what we don't know what the staff is doing but, and I've maintained this for a long time, don't worry, Murphy & Staff have gotten it done as soon as they got to Ypsilanti.

In 3 years they built a team which might be NCAA big dance caliber and it was done quietly and not the fanfare of other programs.

I believe it is safe to assume Hart is on board.

Thanks.

I danced around it. I could have made a simple declarative sentence.

I might add I've kept my expectations on this incoming class fairly low, it shouldn't be a big class given the fact EMU was mostly a class of freshmen, sophs and juniors last year. Secondly while Creighton was hired faster than he should get a pass for his first recruiting class given time and staffing constraints. If we keep our four verbals and add a few more that's fine.

I believe all the GAs (3) are still on board in sure they are doing a lot of leg work right now. That makes 7 guys in the fold working.

Kyle Rachwal (LB) is still actively being considered.

With this snippet, it appears that next weekend will be a big visit weekend.

I'm guessing that EMU will try to get many of their targets to visit that weekend and see what happens.

I am not saying that Scout is accurate but it seems as if we are recruiting heavily on the offensive side of the ball..

EMU could use a little at every position offensively. WR is a bigger need, especially with Creel having ACL surgery a few days ago. Hope he's ready to go this fall.

That is bad news, what happened? When did the accident happen? I didn't know this.. He was one of the bright spot from the past season..

We still need the big guys/bodies in the front 7

Dear Friends,
This is why we should all have doubts about recruiting sites, especially Scout.com. The discussion above about Kyle Rachwal, and his intentions. If, one goes to the Scout.com site to check Eastern's prospects, he is listed with six schools making contact, and one offer. The offer is from Eastern. They have a story on the home page saying he has eight offers, and is weighing his options. How can he have eight offers when Scout.com doesn't even list them on their recruiting page under his name? It's their site. I don't get it.

Ken,
The other 7 offers are from FCS and D2 schools that may not be in Scout. That why their names do not show in his list.

You point is valid though. The problem with these sites is that they do not update most of the kids very frequently, if ever. Data that is more than a month old is really useless garbage.

Don't forget a smaller class is not that bad of a deal if its guys you like. Doesn't make sense to fill a class just to fill it. Any extra room can be filled next January with early enrollees that will count against this class not the next one. Allowing for a big class in '15.

Exactly. Mid-year JUCO enrollees is a good thing. We could go 25 in 2015 + some January JUCOs.

Think I read that UofM is bringing in a January class, presumably high school kids graduating early.

Lot of ways to handle recruiting.

Someone sent this to me so I'll post it...

http://highschoolsports.mlive.com/news/a...ial-visit/

So if I'm following this stuff we're going head-to-head with S. Illinois for several recruits...

And Mike Hart is probably recruiting his a*s off.
