BE revenue from last yr
Got this from the USF board...assuming the #s are correct

Jackson

BIG EAST BUCKS

What's worth more? A bowl game and last-place finish in men's basketball (USF) or no bowl appearance and a near Final Four run (UConn)?

Well, even in the Big East, football is king.

USF will receive about $3.6 million from the league in BCS, bowl and NCAA Tournament payouts, while UConn will receive nearly $3 million. USF received nearly $3 million in football revenue and $658,062 in NCAA Tournament payouts. Even if UConn would have reached the Final Four, the Bulls still would have received more in football and men's basketball payouts.

Cincinnati, which was the Big East's only football member school that didn't receive a bowl bid or make the NCAA Tournament, still did all right. The Bearcats will receive about $2.5 million from the league in football and basketball payouts. West Virginia, the league's only school with a bowl bid and NCAA Tournament appearance, made a league-best $5.3 million.

A look at the postseason revenue received by each Big East school from the league's share of BCS and bowl payouts in football and NCAA Tournament men's basketball payouts.

School - Total - Football - Basketball
West Virginia - $5,278,062 - $4,275,000 - $1,003,062
Louisville - $4,133,062 - $3,475,000 - $658,062
Rutgers - $3,833,062 - $3,175,000 - $658,062
South Florida - $3,608,062 - $2,950,000 - $658,062
UConn - $2,993,062 - $1,875,000 - $1,118,062
Pittsburgh - $2,763,062 - $1,875,000 - $888,062
Syracuse - $2,648,032 - $1,875,000 - $773,062
Cincinnati - $2,533,062 - $1,875,000 - $658,062

Villanova - $1,118,062 - $0 - $1,118,062
Georgetown - $1,003,062 - $0 - $1,003,062
Marquette - $773,062 - $0 - $773,062
Seton Hall - $773,062 - $0 - $773,062
DePaul - $658,062 - $0 - $658,062
Notre Dame - $658,062 - $0 - $658,062
Providence - $658,062 - $0 - $658,062
St. John's - $658,062 - $0 - $658,062

If these #'s are correct, it should put to rest any question of why UC left CUSA.

Those numbers represent what the Big East paid out to their member base on their participation in BE sport.

If ND fans want their payouts shown on a BE fb and bb list, maybe you should talk to your adm about joining the BE.

Who cares about what other conferences are doing all I care about is what the Big East is doing, and the conference is doing VERY well. Cincinnati has made more money in one year then in several years in C-USA. And once Cincinnati basketball is back on track, hopefully sooner and later, and the football program matures then UC will be in great shape. Same thing goes for ALL Big East programs, and the conference will be better for it.

Notre Dame fans are just upset that the Big East is doing well and not kissing the feet of Notre Dame at every point. And they're upset that we didn't lump Notre Dame in there as well. But they don't matter in this instance because they're only a partial member.

It is no big deal. I merely commented to point out that football independence treated ND very well financially in 2005 and that compared to BE payouts, ND would be done a lot worse if it had been a football member of the BE last year.

If you just look at the BCS and NBC money (I assume ND would have kept all of 2005's $6 million Adidas money even if it were a member), ND football earned an approximate $24 million dollar payout from those two sources versus the $4.3 million or so earned by WVU (the conference BCS rep), for example.

I know that things even out a bit with the new $4.5 million dollar BCS payout for ND starting in 2006 but my post dealt with the 2005 numbers vs. what ND would have earned if it were a football member.

I was not upset at all. In fact, being born/raised in Western Pennsylvania, I am happy that the Big East football schools are doing well.

I have been living down here in SEC country for 23 years, but still follow Northeast football instead of Southern football, which is one reason (besides ND being a member in baseball, basketball, etc...) that I read/post on Big East boards.

The thing is, nobody here cares what Notre Dame made. It doesn't effect us. But Notre Dame fans feel the need to rub in whatever success they have for whatever reason. This thread had NOTHING to do with Notre Dame (outside of money earned in basketball) and everything to do with the Big East having success. Nobody here cares what Notre Dame made in football because it's not a Big East member.

You better enjoy that payout because it drops significantly starting next year. . .

Notre Dame's refusal to play football is the real reason the Big East will split into two conference in 2010. Notre Dame fans and administrators look in the mirror, the villain is you! 05-stirthepot

Doesn't it start this 2006 season, in the fall? Thats the impression that I got. I could be wrong.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but with the new deal next year, ND will get BCS money whether they make a BCS Bowl or not. Granted it won't be the 15 million they got this year, but it won't be the zero they got the past couple years either.

you are correct basically what it does is treat them like they were in a major conference getting BCS money yearly. Less reasons for them to join ANY leagues for football
