RE: SEC Survivor League - FB 2013
If Auburn loses to Washington State at home, I would recommend that Malzahn works on that resume and does not use months in his career timeline; just use years, and maybe they will forget about the 2013 Auburn debacle.

Seriously, I think Auburn will soundly beat Wazzu, but I think Alabama will annihilate VT. That is the only reason I picked that one.

Probably should have used Auburn this week too. When will they ever be favored over a P5 again this year?

That's the beauty of it. You don't have to pick them at all. There are only 13 weeks in the season counting everyone's bye week.

03-lmfao

That was exactly my thought process behind my choice of Auburn.

Yeah basically mine too. The rules limiting when you can choose a team means there are a very limited number of games you can pick certain teams. Auburn's opportunities to win vs. eligible teams look limited and I know I avoided another team because it looked like it was the best bet in one of the upcoming weeks.

P.S. Thanks for setting this up.

Yep, and next week there are only two games to choose from and one of them is Georgia vs South Carolina. Florida vs Miami is the other.

If Florida loses to Miami next week, this may be the shortest survivor league in history! I can't see too many people feeling confident in picking the UGA/USC game. I guess this weekend will tell us a lot, though.

Yep, next week could kill us all. Especially since that Miami squad is being talked about pretty heavily by some. I still wont take them over Florida though.

I'm not exactly sold on this South Carolina team though, I may end up picking Georgia over them.

You have until the South Carolina and North Carolina kickoff. So no, not too late but the deadline is coming up.

Eh! The Dogs and Gamecocks will almost always be a 50 - 50 guess. I give a slight nod to South Carolina because Coach Steve hates losing to Georgia. Right now I kind of plan to pick that game instead of Muschump's Gators. Florida may well beat Miami, but the entire Gator offense is a huge question mark going into this season. Next week will be tough. And given that my Auburn Tigers are essentially a complete unknown at this point I'm shocked that any of you picked them when Alabama would be much less likely to lose their opener.

RE: SEC Survivor League - FB 2013
Based on last year, I would agree on USC against Georgia plus the OBC hating to lose to them, as JR said, but I got a slight man-crush for Aaron Murray during Media Days. He handled himself incredibly well, especially when being questioned about the SEC Championship Game last year and what he has been doing during the offseason to make this one special. Perhaps it was because I heard his interview shortly after listening to the Johnny F. "I'm just a kid" excuse speech. With them playing at home this year, I'm torn. It should be a classic.

I'm saving Alabama. Auburn is questionable, but it is Washington State that they are playing. The level of athleticism on Auburn should be enough.

What's amazing is that the SEC opening schedules have ensured an entertaining opening weekend for fans, yet the conference will still be castigated for playing an easy schedule. Opening your conference schedule in week 1 deserves mad props. Combined with two boarder war games and two neutral site games, who else is giving the fans what they want like the SEC?

Certainly not Disturbin Urban and the Buckeyes. Buffalo for the opener? And their Big 10 schedule isn't even strong.

No argument here from me on this situation. The Big Ten once again stuck to it's old traditions while the SEC goes into overdrive with the ESPN plan. After that article in the New York Times, the cat is completely out of the bag in terms of why a schedule like this happens. It isn't because the SEC itself has this mentality, it is ESPN's mentality and they are pitting their two big products against each other to start the season. They also gave Ole Miss and Vandy a chance to shine with their rivalry when during most weeks that match up would be darkened by others stealing the light.

So far, ESPN is proving they aren't just sitting pretty with all the power that they have. They truly are making college football better for the fans. The argument could be made that all this movement towards weekday games is not good for the schools and their athletes but the one's taking the most advantage of it, they certainly don't seem to be complaining about their success.

It irritates me very much to see the Big Ten fall so far behind.

Well stated and great insight about the placement of the Vandy / Ole Miss game. If I could give you more rep points for this I would.
