RE: SEC Survivor League - FB 2013
Been doing this kind of game over on the College Football News Big Ten forums for years and it's my favorite of these. Never did only with power 5 conference teams though. That's going to mean we'll have to be real careful these first few weeks.

For week 1, I'll go with

Auburn

Sorry, vandiver, it was decided to just pick games where the SEC plays another P5 opponent.

Yeah, the P5 limit really makes it interesting. Glad you decided to come on board!

My bad, I didn't see that change. I'll pick SCAR over UNC

Wow, bold pick! I can't wait for that game. Thursday night is going to be awesome for general SEC fans. That Ole Miss vs. Vandy game is huge for both programs.

Got to repick Medic. Rice isn't P5.

Basically I think you have four games to choose between.

Yep...I knew FCS schools were out. Forgot about P5...

I pick South Carolina over UNC.

I actually think SCAR will have a 14 pt lead by halftime. If the OBC is serious about winning the east then putting away UNC early is must. He needs to have his players well rested before heading to Athens the following week. UGA will struggle against Clemson before pulling the game out in the last 10 minutes, which also work to Spurrier's advantage.

Also, just to get ahead of a potential issue, I'm fine with allowing teams that will be in a P5 next year as potential game choices, which is just Louisville and Rutgers. The Rutgers vs. Arkansas game later in September would be a legit option to consider; anybody who picks UK to beat Louisville needs to question their sanity, though! BYU and Notre Dame do not play an SEC team in the regular season this year, so no issues there.

How about another rule that any national ranked non-P5 team is fair game also?

Sure, that works fine. The point is to make sure that there are no cupcake picks. So, the pool of picks is:

Any P5 team
Louisville and Rutgers
Any non-P5 team ranked in the top 25 of the Coach's or AP Poll the week they play the particular SEC opponent.

Fair enough?

I'm tempted to use South Carolina, but I want to save them for later in the season.

I'll go bold and pick Vandy.
