I get all the partisan stuff from both sides, that is common place in all political forums.

That part is fun in my opinion.

It's the race baiting in this forum since the Zimmerman verdict that is really bothering me.

It seems as if everyone has just stopped pretending that they aren't racist and have started showing their true colors without shame.

It's really interesting and disturbingly sad at the same time.

I'm a what you see is what you get kind of guy... I don't beat around around the bush or candy coat what's on my mind, and I don't have a problem crushing the eggshells that everyone else feels they have to walk on when they are around a black person. I don't walk on them with my black friends so I'm sure as hell not going to do it on a forum. I just call it like I see it and I understand that everyone has their opinion so I don't force mine, and I will gladly welcome yours. Matter of fact, I have a best friend up in the Bronx who is a die hard liberal and black. I'm a die hard Conservative and white. We are exactly the same in everything except color and politics. Just as a lot of us on here are. So we don't discuss politics around each other, but neither of us cany coat anything that's on our minds either and there was a mutual respect built off of it. So when I get called a racist, I laugh it off because anyone who truly thinks I am, has no idea who I am.

Let's just say that the tone of the board has changed in a big way lately and leave it at that.

Yeah, I largely agree, I'm not a big fan of them either. However, I would replace "in this forum" to "virtually everywhere" in that sentence. It's just been kind of ugly all around since the Zimmerman trial. Regardless of ideological stripe, regardless of racial background.

I know it's easy/cliche to dump on the media, but when writers, columnists and talkingheads deliver the race bait 24/7, we shouldn't be surprised when Joe Q Public follows suit.

I find on this forum, sometimes one topic will be dominant for a while, then will be replaced by something else that's very topical. We had about 3 solid weeks of Boston Marathon Bomber threads, IIRC. It may get "crazy" here on occasion, but I've read online newspaper comments sections that make this board look tame. And I won't even mention youtube comment threads, the lowest of the low.

Yep. Noticed the same.

I recall some of my favorite threads included Owl 69 and Max Power, right around the 2012 election. Both on opposite sides of each other, economically, but I learned quite a bit from both of them.

Yep, I'm about to say screw it. This new crop of knuckle-draggers have no decency or willingness to engage in any sort of rational debate.

We on the left have tried, but until more of those on the right become more forceful on calling them out, this forum will quickly become extinct.

I can respect that. I don't know who you are and how you are and visa versa.

I will say this however.

Even Archie Bunker had a black friend.

I wouldn't say he "slayed" anyone. Many of those charts and graphs were debunked as spin.

But I respected him for his well thought-out posts and effort to engage. He put a lot of detailed work into his posts.
