UB Getting Air Time in NYC
It's the second biggest source of Alumni Buffalo has so I'll take anything, even just a minute..

Quote:BUFFALO, NY - In an effort to increase the University at Buffalo athletics brand and keep in touch with the vast alumni base in the New York City area, the UB Department of Athletics, in partnership with Play By Play Sports, LLC will air the "UB Bulls Minute" on 660AM/101.9FM WFAN in New York City this fall. The "UB Bulls Minute," a weekly 60-second update will air during The Mike Francesa Show – the nation's top sports talk radio show.

The updates will provide notes on upcoming events for UB football and basketball. There will be 20 weekly reports on Fridays, with two replays of the reports to be played the following Saturday mornings prior to kick-off. They will begin in August and run through March and the basketball season.

"We want all fans of UB athletics to feel connected," Director of Athletics Danny White said. "We believe that expanding our coverage in one of our largest alumni markets will go a long way towards building America's next big time college athletics brand."

WFAN is the flagship station of four Tri-State area professional sports franchises: the New York Mets, the New York Giants, the New Jersey Devils and the Brooklyn Nets.

Hopefully the NYC alums respond and that time can grow a bit..

Disappointed that it's not the "New York Bulls Minute". Maybe they're worried people would confuse it with the Red Bulls?

May have had something to do with it.. Or the fact all the UB Alumni down state went to "UB" and not "New York". That change, such as it is, has not had time to work it's way through the fan base.

So you're not going to be "Buffalo" anymore?

Or is it BSUNY? Or SUNYB? NYSNSB?

White's walking a fine line...

SUNY is going to make this hard and the sensitive feelings of folks over at the Buffalo news will make it even more difficult. It's a crappy paper but they are very good at killing things when they put their mind to it.

The reason the Bills play in Orchard park rather than downtown is because the news ran down the plan to build there. When the stadium site was then moved to OP the news bought the land for a song and put up their building.

I think if white had his druthers we would be all in on "New York" or "New York State" or something like that.

The schools official name will not change anytime soon. Too much political pressure from the other centers. But the branding of Athletics will get more and more "New York" the longer White is here.
