UL, ULM, Troy, ASU or WKU could win this conference IMHO. ULM looked like a juggernaut early in the season only to fizzle out. I wouldn't be surprised to see USA making some noise. Anything can happen in the Bolt.

I wrote the article. I dont follow UL as closely as you do or any of the other teams as closely as their respective fanbases do, and I wont act like I do...but I did catch atleast 1-2 games (alot more for certain teams)last season of every team in the Belt and also did my share of research prior to the article. Not a media member that overlooks the smaller conferences either, just a fan writing for fun.

But yeah youre right, predictions are simply opinions and have no say in how seasons actually play out on the field. But I still enjoy them because it gives us a reason to talk football in the off-season. 04-rock

Well IMHO from a Troy fans perspective, you have no idea wtf your pretending to write about C-USA fan. There is no way anyone can look at the scores from the games we had last year and then see that not only are many of those athletes returning but we also brought back one of our more successful defensive coordinators. Anyone sleeping on Troy this year will be in for a big surprise.

Furthermore, I would also like to say that the sunbelt as a whole has more parity than most of the other conferences and I wouldn't be surprised to see Texas state or USA win the whole thing(well maybe a little). This conference is just awesome, every week is something new and exciting. I can't wait to see what this year will bring for everyone. All preseason picks are a joke, I'm ready to see some talking on the field.

Not knocking your write up of Texas State, but I think the expected improvements on defense are not so much due to experience of returning players, but from the infusion of transfer talent hitting the field this year.

DJ Yendrey - DT (former starter for TCU, left during the "incident" two years ago).
Mike Orakpo - LB (former Colorado State LB)
about 4-5 guys in the secondary all bigger and faster than last year's guys in the secondary.

Outside shot that Donald Hopkins (DT from Houston) could turn the light on and become a factor as well.
