I hope the the bowl becomes a new years day bowl, a better chance at landing Big 10

1. Big 10- chances of landing PSU,Wisky,Purdue,Osu all of these scgool have alot of alumni in NYC
2. ACC- Boston College,Miami,Maryland alumni in NYC
3. Mac- they would take it

least desirable
1. Pac 10- too far
2.CUSA- wouldn't want to come up North
3.SEC- would not want to come up north

CUSA currently goes to hawaii - I doubt they'd turn down a trip "up north"....

....nor would ANY conference, I suspect....hell, the PAC-10 used to play in the Liberty Bowl....

Is there any word on when this proposed bowl game would be? IE pre-Christmas, post Christmas or post New Years?

The problem with Hawaii was mostly the money, of course, but having it fall on Christmas Eve made it hard between parting with the normal holiday routine and so many flights being booked.

Yes, more people will go to New York from any C-USA school than would go to Hawaii...but how many more will depend on how close it is to the holiday.

They are talking about the giants/jets stadium the home of the proposed big apple bowl and they are discussing ways of paying for the 300 million roof.

The tenets (Giants/Jets) do not want a roof. I have serious doubts the Big Apple Bowl materializes.

The dealing with njsea and gov crzine are centered on the issue of paying for the roof.

Exactly--old style eastern power politics going on. When it is all said and down their will no roof except if NJ taxpayers foot the bill.

I traveled to Hawaii to watch my team Tulsa play the Rainbows. I stayed eight days while the football team flew in and flew out. Let me say this. I never, never, never want to travel again to Hawaii as a football trip. It is a long, long, long, long flight. You are tired when you get there. And you are tired when you get back. Hawaii is truly a Paradise, everything it is built up to be. But you want to do Hawaii as a vacation and not as a football trip. I do not care for the Hawaii Bowl and hope CUSA can find an eastern/central time zone bowl and ditch the Hawaii Bowl. Other than the conference's (whatever the conference) top teams, all the other conference bowl elgible teams need an easy to drive to regional bowl. Look at the Big-12. Kansas, a mediocre bowl elgible team, brought 20,000 fans to the Ft. Worth Bowl because it is so easy to drive to. Ditto for Big-12 and the Independence Bowl. BUt the mediocre bowl elgible Big-12 teams have struggled to bring fans to the Florida Bowl in Orlando. Other the other hand, fans of a top rated Big-12 team will travel, and travel well, to the Holiday Bowl in San Diego.

Giants, Jets Get Revised Stadium Deal
Giants and Jets Get Revised Deal for New $1 Billion Stadium in Meadowlands
By JANET FRANKSTON
The Associated Press
NEWARK, N.J. - The New York Giants and Jets moved a step closer to their new home in the Meadowlands. Officials from New Jersey, the Giants and the Jets said Friday they've made several changes to an agreement signed last fall that will create a new, $1 billion football stadium in East Rutherford.

Under the updated stadium agreement, the state would not be required to pay for $30 million of infrastructure costs around the stadium, said Gary Rose, chief of the governor's office of economic growth.

The stadium is expected to open for the 2010 season and will seat about 81,000.

The new stadium agreement comes after Gov. Jon S. Corzine earlier this month questioned the financial terms of the original deal, brokered by his predecessor, former Gov. Richard J. Codey.

The teams would also be allowed to collect money for naming rights to the stadium and the complex as a whole, with the exception of the Continental Airlines Arena and a new entertainment and retail development that is being built there.

The state also would drop its pursuit of a retractable dome for the new arena, Rose said. Team owners had said they would kill the earlier agreement if the state forced them to pay for a roof.

"Governor Codey made a tremendous effort to keep the Giants and Jets in New Jersey and today's announcement confirms the partnership that has been fostered between New Jersey and the teams," Corzine said in a statement. "The stadium that will be built will be a world-class facility that will set a new standard for football venues."

The owners of the teams said in a joint statement that they are pleased with the updated agreement.

"We are very grateful to the governor for recognizing the importance of this project," said Woody Johnson, chairman and chief executive officer of the Jets. "We are looking forward to moving ahead and beginning work on the new stadium as planned."

In September, the Giants and Jets agreed to jointly finance the new stadium at the Meadowlands Sports Complex.

While the Giants will build their own training facility on a site within the Meadowlands, the Jets will move their headquarters and practice facility to Floral Park from Hempstead, N.Y., in the summer of 2007.

Here are the conferences I'd like to see pitted against the Big East in order of preference....
1) SEC
2) Big 10
3) ACC
4) Big 12
5) Pac 10

I'd love to see Big East teams play SEC teams on a regular basis and be competitive. I think WVU and Louisville could give anyone in the SEC the game of their lives right now, but I'd like to see the rest of the conference step up their game to a similar level. No matter what people say, the best football is played in the SEC. The Big 10 may have a similar talent level, but the level of spirit falls short, as does the excitement factor. If the Big East could tap into that, there would be nothing to stop us.

NO ROOF=NO BOWL GAME

At best we can get Syracuse, Rutgers or UConn to host a national power or Notre Dame in the new stadium each year.

If DestiNY ever gets completed in Syracuse the Carrier Dome could host a pre Christmas bowl game for Big East #4 or 5 vs MAC #3 after the Toronto Bowl dies in few seasons.

I hope Albany comes through and just help pay for the retractable roof.

The State & the Jets/Giants should see the beniefits of having the roof, they can rent out the stadium for Final 4s and the Big Appel bowl. Also the stadium can be used when NYC host the goodwill games again.

Realisticly the Big Apple bowl is really the only bowl majority of this conference can really travel to ( 20K fans+).

NYC could host a bowl game that has no equal if they do it right. It remains to be seen if they can do it right. I'm not going to hold my breath, but this could be huge.

A new years day bowl in NYC would be great. You spend New Years eve in times square and then follow it up with the Bowl game. The game has so much potential.

I'd Like to see Big East teams play Notre Dame/Big 10 in this bowl too
