Yeah, and Akron gets NIU, Toledo, AND Ball State. It's bad enough we miss out on Buffalo every year, but we don't even get to play a directional Michigan.

New York is one of the few states w/o one state university that is nationally recognized by the sports world
...but what would prevent the three others from doing the same thing?

The only one on the same academic field as UB would be Stony Brook.. Even then UB is bigger, with more programs, and a much larger endowment (6 times the size of Stony Brook).

Buffalo's biggest advantage is that we are already an FBS team (for as long as that lasts). While UB's stadium is one of the worst in the FBS is far better than anything smAlbany or Stony Brook has going on.

Like I have said in other threads, this is the Cal-Berkeley model.. Close to campus they are known as Berkeley, but nationally they are known as Cal.

Locally we are still Buffalo and UB, but on a national front we are looking to play up the New York angle.

Our official school name is the State University of New York - Buffalo and that is all we are saying we are. Albany, Bing and Stony Brook could be doing this same thing if they wanted.

I haven't. We're not allowed to play Buffalo, anymore, despite being in the process of developing a nice rivalry.

That's because the MAC makes UB play only good teams while other MAC schools get easier schedules. Can't have UB play an easy schedule in a year where they might challenge for a division title. But the kittens get Akron and UMass and Central and Eastern. While UB doesn't play Akron and has to play Toledo. I guess I should be happy. The MAC could have made UB play NIU AND Toledo again like they did last year. MAC football scheduling is an absolute joke.
