Seems as if 95% of GaSo fans are glad they have seen the last of Baker AD. The school is equally
responsible though for keeping him all those years if he was not getting the job done the way that
they thought it should have been. Hate to say that but is true. I posted my beliefs years ago that
they should make a change but guess there was no momentum or the previous president didn't like to
make changes.

95 percent is nowhere near the correct number. Even the chappies that hate me will testify to that.

Much lower. 40 percent would be too high.

Guess I had the wrong take on it then. So no more than 40% were happy about Baker being gone, I am surprised. Thought it would have been much higher.

The previous president was sent to Georgia Southern by the Board of Regents specifically to put us "in our place". President Henry (1987-1998) went directly to the state legislature to get things done for Georgia Southern like new academic facilities and more graduate programs.

Georgia Southern is a Carnegie Doctoral/Research University, but our own Regents resists reclassifying us as a research university because it would increase our funding. It will happen, but everything south of the Gnat Line (Columbus to Macon to Augusta) in Georgia has to fight, scratch, and claw for every dollar coming out of Atlanta back to us.

Who appoints your regents? A University of Georgia board?

LOL no...this ain't Alabama.

The Board of Regents are: http://www.usg.edu/regents/ and they govern the University System of Georgia which includes 31 colleges and universities. My understanding is that Georgia did away with the UGA-Atlanta type stuff back in the 50s or 60s 'cause Georgia Tech didn't want to share the influence.

RE: For you GaSo and App St Folks
Everyone is entitled to an opinion...even Patriot League teams. The problem with the nay-sayers on AGE is that they love the credibility that App and GaSo bring to FCS. That's why they hate that we are leaving. On the other hand, they gripe about the teams that keep dominating, and they use our size and facilities as a ready made excuse when they lose. Even traditionally strong programs like Furman shrug it off when we beat them on recruiting or on the field. App and GaSo are SUPPOSED to win, so any time that we don't it is huge. FBS programs don't like playing the top (competitive) FCS teams because there is a real risk. The Wake Forest AD came right out and said it: There is nothing to gain by winning, and the downside of losing is HUGE. App and GaSo have been trapped in that world for years now...all season long.

I'm truly excited about playing in a league where the quality of competition is higher and excuses are gone. We've climbed the FCS mountain, and it was great while it was what we had. I'm proud of our accomplishments, but I'm ready for a bigger mountain!

FCS is perfect for the Furmans, Woffords, Richmonds etc. Nothing wrong with it at all. It was just time to move on. I stopped logging into AGS a while back. I haven't really missed it.

Yeah, I didn't go onto AGS for long periods of time.
Heard the Wake Forest coach on the radio say the same thing about playing App State,
too much chance of losing, and that they would have to keep their starters in the entire game
and that was not what they were looking for. They wanted an easier game that they pretty much could win.

Oops. I just realized that I posted this in the wrong thread. That's what I get for multi-tasking. I meant to post it in the "More AGS Gold" thread. Sorry

Great graphic. Thanks for sharing.

I would really like to repost this to our GSU fans so they start to grasp the concept that we're going from being top 2 dog in our conference to middle of the pack in the SBC when it comes to stadium/attendance. I honestly don't think many people have figured that one out.

It was quite a bit higher. I'd say around 80-90% were happy with the move. It's all arbitrary anyway b/c how can someone who's only connection is through the internet be able able to properly gauge such a number.

We're definitely aware our name is getting out there, but we still have to deal with Lehigh fans on AGS telling us that our program is gonna die from moving to FBS.

Thanks for the info btw.

What is Lehigh?

The team that beat down Duke in the 1st round of the NCAA Tourney in 2012.

Forgot about that. Lehigh would probably rather do that than to win a BCS football game.
Basketball is all important to most NE schools.

Yes, but they will never be in the same league as App State and Ga Southern officially. Err, I guess technically they will be for an hour, since the move up occurs at Midnight local time.

I could see it being alright for now until we add their replacement.
