WOW!!! Yeah, go Seawolves!!!! Amazing to meet another UAA fan on here.
UAA's Coach Harry Larrabee (at the time - early 80's) was the ONLY coach to offer a basketball scholarship to me out of high school but then again, I was in Glennallen, there was no Internet, no social media, no email, no cellphone cams, etc.) Instead, I thanked him for the offer and joined the USAF instead, which was not that bad of a deal for a kid with some "game"...
We had a base team and of course, half of our schedule was against other base teams but we also played a couple of D-II, D-III and NAIA teams each year as well. We also got PAID while doing so.
End of rant. What it gets down to is I've STILL got the UAA Seawolves jacket I was given and I STILL wear it a few times a year down here in Mobile, Alabama with pride. When it comes to D-1 football or basketball, I'll always Bleed It Red but every other D-1 sport such as hockey, gymnastics, etc., I'll ALWAYS bleed green. D-II hoops? Grew up a fan and always WILL be.
GO SEAWOLVES!!!!!!!
Yep, I am a HUGE HUGE Seawolf fan, and Alum. Did my B.S. at UAA and a Master degree at Texas State. So, big fan of both schools. I wish UAA had football, and our new arena at UAA will elevate our basketball to D-1. So, exciting times!
A few years ago they and Alaska (Fairbanks) were being rumored to join the Big Sky conference (D-I)... is there still any life to those rumors or are both schools content to stay in D-II for hoops?
