Expected to get a large pay raise to become the highest paid baseball coach in the SBC. This is a big deal since he was one of the lowest paid.
We were actually 42-20 on the year. I guess that was a typo on his part

Can't say whether or not Hartwell had a hand in this, I would assume that's what an AD does though. Regardless, ever since Hartwell came on board, great things have been happening. This is exactly what we needed after there was chance Pierce could go to Auburn.

Yup, also a lot of fans have been very vocal about getting him this raise. He is a great coach. But our AD has done great things already in his short time with us so far.

Not sure... But that should come out either tomorrow or Monday the article says.

He's currently paid 116k... Idk about the other SBC schools but USA pays theirs 165k if I'm not mistaken... So that will be a nice raise to go above 165k.

For his last contract, Harrington would have been making about 170K but he negotiated for his assistants, who previously got $000, to get paid and gave up half of his salary to make it happen. That was/is split, unequally of course, between the 2 assts based on experience.

I feel like this was the primary motivating factor.

Is this the salary, or the pay? Many coaches make as much from other sources as they do from the school salary. UL coaches all make a lot more than the school pays, at least they do in the UL revenue sports football, basketball, softball and baseball.

I thought for a minute that Auburn was going to make a run at him during their coaching search.

I feel like this was the primary motivating factor.

Contract negotiations started a couple of days after the regional loss to FSU. I'm not even sure Auburn ever contacted Troy or Pierce. This raise is well overdue. The assistants will apparently be receiving raises as well. Much deserved also. Pierce's deal looks like a 3 year deal from what I've heard.

I know before his last raise, Raffo was making less than 100K. Not sure what his raise got it too.

I heard both Calvi and Pierce were on AU's short list.

AU hit a freaking homerun wit their coach search getting OU's head coach. Otherwise, I think Calvi and Pierce would have gotten a much bigger look.

Just wanting to update that Harrington's last contract (that I referenced earlier) was January 2010. It was for 3 years. I have to think he was given a new one this year so I'm trying to track down the particulars.

Interesting that he got a new deal...wasn't this a very down year by Texas State standards?

If it was renewed it had to be before the season; as the last one was a January deal.

Yes, it was a down year but I think it was kind of expected with all we lost. But, I do think it was worse than what was anticipated. We should be back up to snuff for 2014.
