RE: Softball Questions
^That's more of what I thought. Building facilities are no easy task anymore.

Since the stadium with seating for about 2800 was completed along with the locker rooms fairly recently I don't expect any major changes in the near future. I think they would like to make the outfield stands more uniform, but that's just cosmetics. They have to work around some oaks, which they don't want to affect. I know an indoor hitting facility was in the original plans, but they didn't get done during the stadium construction. I've heard they'd like to have a two level facility along the right field line where the current batting cages are located that would allow some indoor hitting/pitching with a fixed high speed video system that would allow better followup with the hitter/pitchers.
Wow, I never would have thought that our softball facility would have something the Cajuns didn't. Still have a long way to go to bring Alan Saxe Field up to speed, but at least we aren't that far off.

I'm assuming you mean the dedicated indoor hitting/pitching facility?

When I clicked on this thread I thought the title was referring to a list of media questions for the President.

Yes, I can just about guarantee that Louisiana is above Alan Saxe Field in every other category. I would have more sure two days ago, but have a hard time believing lightning can strike twice.

In an article in the aug22 Shorthorn, the regents have approved a increase in the uta operating budget to 528 million or so and 5.5 million for new baseball and softball clubhouses per the hks design that was previously proposed. there will also be new seating for softball and dugout improvements for both..

Just to further clarify, we do have drop down cages as part of the indoor practice facility for those inclement weather days. They can also do fielding as well. What they are looking at now is a dedicated controlled environment softball hitting/pitching facility.

RE: Softball Questions
Just heard an interview with Coach Lotief on local radio. For the fall 2013 the Cajuns will again host the USSSA Pride at the end of September, and will be having a reunion with players and coaches for all the years of Cajun softball in November.
For the spring 2014 season, the Cajuns will be hosting Texas (UT) for an opening weekend round robin tournament, will host Michigan for a couple of games in a second round robin tournament, and hosting Oklahoma for a three game series during an off week during the conference season. I think we'll again be attending the NFCA Leadoff Classic in Clearwater FL, and I think we'll be going to Baylor who will return the trip in 2015.
Not too shabby a home schedule for our fans this year. I wonder if all those teams realized we graduated five All Americans the last two years.

RE: Softball Questions
I know the answer for baseball, am pretty certain for softball, but the more knowledgeable fans may have a more concrete answer.
How common is artificial turf for softball facilities?
