MWC did not renew with Armed Forces, so there is an opening there as well.

There have been rumored and perhaps confirmed reports that the Big Ten and Big 12 will share one side of that bowl. And that the MWC and CUSA may split the other unless the MWC just keeps it to themselves.

I don't think that the MWC is "officially" confirmed for this bowl but signs point to them keeping it in some fashion. Did they actually walk away outright?

The league will end its tie to the Armed Forces Bowl in Fort Worth, Texas, after this season, but the Mountain West is still looking for a sixth bowl or, likely, bowls.

I'd love the MAC to pick up the Ft. Worth Bowl. But I would bet that the AAC goes balls-out for it since they lost the Liberty.

A Ft. Worth Bowl vs Big 12/Big Ten would match the CUSA's Dallas Bowl vs the same shared opponents. If the AAC can't secure that, they would end up with a lesser "top bowl" for their conference than CUSA. You have to give CUSA credit for securing their Dallas Bowl.

EDIT: IF CUSA can pick up the Ft. Worth Bowl, that would be a BIG F.U. to the AAC.

CUSA does seem to have done well about retaining and adding bowls. Seems like the AAC commissioner may be getting a lot more arrows shot his way unless they can pull together something that I just don't see easily happening.

With the Marlins Park (AAC) and Boca Raton (C-USA) Bowls both being referred to as "likely" and "probable", those two conference are going to need opponents. 2 of MAC/MWC/Belt could get those slots.

It's sounding like AAC vs MWC at Marlins Park (MWC said that it will have a bowl in the "southeast") and MAC vs CUSA in Boca. MAC has been rumored for a while now in Boca, the issue was that it didn't look like it was going to happen, but it now seems like that has changed.
