No ribs from East Texas/Houston seems unlikely.

Albertsons has a tasty 10 pack of bbq ribs for $5.99 in their take out section.
I'm surprised that wasn't on the list.

Corky's? I look at them and the Rendezvous as tourist traps. (But when on, they're damn good)

For ribs I like:

BBQ Shop (Madison ave)
Blues City Cafe (Beale Street)
Interstate BBQ (3rd street)

For pulled pork I like:

Central BBQ (Central ave)
Paynes BBQ (Lamar ave)
BBQ Shop (Madison ave)

Coletta's on South Parkway does an AMAZING BBQ pizza...it was a favorite of Elvis.

I love dry rub ribs and while some people might think this is rib blasphemy but I absolutely love the dry rub ribs at Chillis.

Interstate is owned by a relative, uncle I believe but they aren't the same place. Neely's BBQ since the TV show has really gone down. I had some of the worst bbq there last time I ate there.

Are any of them still open?

The big one on Mt Moriah has had the lights off for awhile and last time I drove by the little shop on Winchester, it also looked closed.

From my trips to the city, I'd say your list is spot on although I haven't been to Payne's. Rendezvous didn't impress me the two times I have eaten there. Ok, but more a product of hype than quality.

I think Chili's sells theirs to Micky D for the McRib.

Paynes is a low-key, no hype, no nonsense BBQ joint. The slaw that she puts on the sandwiches in this video is unique and outstanding. I haven't had Paynes ribs, but the chopped BBQ is the best I've had.

Here's another one that doesn't play with hype and get a lot of attention, but just smokes good 'que, Cozy Corner:

One of these days, we're going to need to come up with an off season thread that doesn't involve bbq, I don't know if we need to beat a dead horse with a stick about how much better Texas bbq is

Is that how they do BBQ in Texas... beating dead horses with sticks. 04-jawdrop

But seriously... I love all these BBQ topics. It's good to see all these different opinions. Get to see the Texas folks and the Memphis folks and Carolina folks all dish it out.

I'm just sitting here thinking, I'll take some of it all. Good BBQ is good BBQ, love it all when done well. 04-cheers
