Lack of replay monitors helps too.
I still laugh about that. Ronnie raged around the court, while they showed it on the HD overhead screens as the correct call. Rather than complain about the courtside monitor that wasn't required at the time, he should have looked up.
You understand the point of court side monitors, right?

1. South Alabama
2. Louisiana
3. Arkansas-Little Rock
4. Arkansas State
5. Appalachian State
6. Texas Arlington
7. Troy
8. Georgia Southern
9. Georgia State
10. Louisiana-Monroe
11. Texas State
Something of note is UTA and Texas State have played a ton of non-Division I schools during this time. You can't do that in the Sun Belt! You can only have 1 non-Division I game a year! ULM used to have a lot of non-Division I games before the Sun Belt enacted this rule.
I'm not going to speak for TXST, but UTA had to because we played in Texas Hall. Very few DI teams would play us at home, so it was either a DII team or another road game. Now that CPC is open, we didn't play a DII team this past year and only the opener in the previous year, which was still Texas Hall.
We are 46-23 at home against D1 teams in the last six years. Sadly, we went 7-8 in our first full year at CPC with some really inexcusable losses (12-6 away, go figure).
OU and Boise played us at home this year and I do believe Okie St will visit our first year in the Belt. CPC is really just a different environment and anything before the 2012/13 year is just not comparable.

Yes I do. And once the league mandated that all schools have them the Cajuns did. If it would have been mandatory for the NCAA Division 1, the Cajuns would have had one. In point of fact, it wasn't at that time.
My humor was based on his argument that the shot did not take place before the time ran out when in fact it did, court side monitor or not. Storming around the court and confronting the facility manager or a female campus police office about not having the monitors wasn't going to change the officials calls or the end of the game. It was a temper tantrum.

I think you have it backwards. WKU is always so damn good because of the fans. Players come and go, coaches come and go, we've even made some pretty bad coaching mistakes. But the secret to WKU's longevity is the fans.
It's not just the size of the crowd or even how loud it is. It is the energy, the timing, and the understanding of how to affect the game. I will put WKU fans against any base in the conference in that regard.

This got me wondering what the largest attendance was/is for a Sun Belt conference game (in basketball)?
In recent times no doubt it was Middle's home game against Western last year with 10,500 or so IIRC. Before that (70s onward?), WKU, ULL, and MT drew huge numbers I believe.

South Alabama used to have good crowds as well, particularly in the 80's and early 90's. When the Sun Belt lost UAB, VCU, Old Dominion, Charlotte, and South Florida in 1991 it really took a hit on our attendance and interest in the sport thereafter. Now we have to be GOOD to draw good numbers.
Just for fun, here are the average attendance figures for the Sun Belt teams in the 1991 season:
6,415 -- South Alabama
6,406 -- UAB
6,174 -- South Florida
5,693 -- VCU
5,426 -- Charlotte
5,338 -- Western Kentucky
3,642 -- Old Dominion
3,579 -- Jacksonville

Well there we go! That's about right. MT was a huge draw back in the OVC day, I guess that really shouldn't count for SBC play lol. Even so, USA has a good tradition of basketball and I wish you guys could draw more to games. Always wanted to go to the Mitchell Center to see one. Maybe I will soon.
