USF went 51-26 their first 7 years, which included 2 transitional years and 2 full FBS years, including victories over BCS opponents and top 25 opponents. Let's wait awhile before calling them the winningest startup.

ODU is 38-10 in four years. USF was 27-17 in their first four.

ODU should have no problem catching USF over the next three seasons.

The first transition year should provide ODU with at least 7 wins in 2013. Leaving just 6 wins in 2014 and 2015 to match USFs mark.

Don't forget to also defeat an AP FBS top 25 opponent and at least one BCS opponent. Do that and it could be close after 6-7 years. I love what ODU has done.

I do think its worked out great for them because its created a huge demand and made going to ODU games a HOT ticket. Once they expand Id expect that to continue as long as the transition to D1 is not too painful. I do think their outrageous success so far will have built a core fan base that few if any startup programs have enjoyed.

And the stadium seats just more than 20k. Supposedly a waiting list of 10k exists.

any plans to expand?

What is cost for La. Tech home ticket.......ncsu will be $65

Thanks. Was Pitt the first BCS team USF beat? And who was the first ranked team they beat?

Yes, pitt was defeated in USFs 5th year. I think they finished with 8 or 9 wins. As far as top 25 wins the first was Urban Meyer's 10-1 Bowling Green team in like USF's 5th or 6th year.

USF was also bowl eligible by year 6 although not selected for bowl due to being an independent.

RE: ODU Sells Out Stadium
While both schools' I-AA apprenticeship and rise to I-A are rather similar, there is one difference of note. If I recall correctly, USF started up w/ the intention of transitioning to I-A as soon as possible. And they basically did just that, becoming a I-A independent in their 5th year. ODU is also starting their transition in their 5th year but I don't think their recruits prior to this last year were recruited w/ the expectation they'd be playing FBS ball. It just happened that a situation developed which fast forwarded a move to big boy football. Everything else being equal, I think USF had a recruiting advantage because they knew they could dangle FBS football in front of potential recruits. It does make a difference. In both cases, their first 4 years are very impressive.

Congratulations.......just for information......what does an ODU football ticket cost? I was really surprised how cheap some of new cusa teams game day tickets cost: @mstu $24, @FUI $21 as well as @Marshall $35 compared to our OCG @unc $60 and @ncsu $65.......ECU ticket cost is $45 for home games except this year's game with VT $60. ECU will charge higher price for such home games as USC, Navy, WV, BYU, UNC, NCSU etc.

$27 for each home game, $162 for seasons tickets. Will increase $1/year up to $30. Nothing set after that.

These are the things that can keep CUSA from losing any ground, and could even gain some. Congrats to ODU and its fans!

The other new conference members need to do it as well. Existing conference members need to keep their fan bases engaged with enthusiasm over what is being built here.

Agreed and ODUs start is awesome. Really Looking forward to see how they do in transition and expect them to defeat an FBS opponent this year. Should at least defeat Idaho and probably more.
