You're predicting a 1-3 record for games that are 7 months away that you have no idea who will be playing in?

Regarding the Sun Belt having a winning record against C-USA:

UAB @ Troy
USA @ Tulane
Tulane @ ULM

I agree. C-USA will be lucky to make it out of that 1-2, but given the small sample and two of the games being played by one of the worst CUSA members(who is also departing) you'll have to forgive me if I don't put a lot of stock into the head to head this year.

You have left off Texas State at Southern Miss. I think the Golden Eagles will have their hands full with us. We are going to be better than advertised. I would not be surprised to see Texas State win this game. Houston was shocked when we rolled over them last year.

I like the way you're thinking, but make no mistake .. . we will have our hands full in Miss. This is a team coming off an 0-fer year . . they'll come out with a chip on their shoulder .. they'll want to prove that last year was a fluke . . . Houston, they might have looked past us . .. don't think S. Miss will do that . . . GO CATS!

Exactly. Apples to oranges. Houston overlooked us and thought they were still the near BCS busting team they were the year before. USM will be very focused on beatinbg us to end their losing streak. I hope the Bobcats win, but do not look at last years USM team or our game against UH as indicators of what will happen. I'd say USM will be favored but don't count the Bobcats out.

Last year was a fluke for So Miss. You won't see anything resembling last years team. They will be rebuilding, but I expect that won't take long.

I think it's going to be a battle. Southern Miss definitely is better than last year's record, but so are we. Late August/early September t is a very busy time for me at work, but I think I just might sneak off to Mississippi for this game.

I don't know that it will be that easy for USM to get back to their former status. They will be much improved, no question, but a lot has changed. I know under Roberts we rarely beat USM in head to head recruiting battles but these days we have a good chance to compete with them for recruits. The same is likely true for UL. You also have an improved LT and ULM and a new program in Mobile to compete with in the region.

With their tradition and support I expect that USM lands on its feet but they won't be the bully of the region that they were for a decade or better.

I'm mostly worried its our first game and the QB situation seems bleak. If Moore starts, it'll be his first FBS ever. If Arndt start, we may fair better just because he won't have the same jitters and has played against FBS teams before.

8/31 UAPB (Jonesboro) W
9/07 Auburn (Auburn)
9/12 Troy (Jonesboro)
9/21 Memphis (Memphis) W
9/28 Missouri (Columbia)
10/12 Idaho (Jonesboro) W
10/22 or 10/23 Louisiana (Jonesboro)
11/2 South Alabama (Mobile) W
11/9 Louisiana Monroe (Monroe) W
11/16 Texas State (Jonesboro) W
11/23 Georgia State (Jonesboro) W
11/30 Western Kentucky (Bowling Green)

Now pick 6 we will lose! There is absolutely no way!
*W indicates games we will be favored in by multiple scores

Troy at home, UL at home. WKU with a lot of new faces and new coach! Lol

not saying stAte will 3peat but 8 wins is minimum

Defensively A-state will be better. Offensively we return David oku and jd mckissic all the o-line.

We have plenty of qbs on the roster. So one position is why people believe we will go 6-6. If you don't know Bryan Harsin is a Qb guy! He will have a Qb ready to lead this team in the fall. 6 wins would be a disaster season..I see 1 sbc loss and losses to auburn and mizzou

that's cause my brother didn't play. had he of played it would of been a different outcome. we were also without our top LB who is back after a medical redshirt. our NT was out also. We had lost 6 of our top 8 players in the middle of the season.

I'd love to know which game besides Ga State on the road they are predicting USA to win in conference play this year. We should be able to compete, but our schedule looks like this... WKU at home, @ Troy, @ Texas State, ULL at home, ULM at home, stAte at home, @ Georgia State. I don't see more than 1 conference game where we should be favored, although if we can play decently on the road, we should be able to compete at Troy and Texas State, I guess. Or perhaps they're thinking we will knock off one of WKU, ULL, ULM or stAte at home (a pretty tall order - but not impossible as we get them all at home). I'm hoping for 2-5 with this schedule. I'm also hoping that we can go 2-3 out of conference (our OOC schedule is Southern Utah, @Tulane, Kent State, @ Tennessee, and @ Navy). 4-8 is probably the most we should expect next year. Anything more would be a successful season.

We shouldn't be terribly overmatched with this lineup. If South beat SUU, @Tulane, @Georgia State, @Texas State, I don't think too many people would be shocked. @Troy, @ Navy, Kent State, ULM and WKU at home are games where we shouldn't win, but it wouldn't shock the world if we did. So there are 2 games where we are favored, 2 more that are eminently winnable, and some other games which would be a reach, but not stunning if we took 1 or 2 from that bag.

South has a good chance of winning 4 games, IMO. Two conference games and two OOC games. I feel our chances are good at going 4-8. I'm not predicting anything, just feel good about our chances.

6th sounds about right for a prediction that's not homer based.

Only Sun Belt games I see us favored in is Georgia State and MAYBE USA. Other than that, I see us being 'dogs.

I think 6th place is what I'd call an "average" season (meaning we win the games we should, lose the games we should). 4th place is if we play above our heads for a few games.

Now, the 2014 season? By then, we should be in a place that we aren't dogs in most conference games.

I think that the predicted 6th in conference is about right. I didn't care for his overall 4-8 prediction. It's like he glanced at out schedule, saw what should be obvious wins, then assumed we'd lose all the rest . . and maybe we do. But if we are REALLY improved over a year ago .. . and I believe that we are . . then anything less than 5 wins for the year . . will be a disaster . . .
