I get why you say that, however, the Sun Belt is having problems agreeing on a twelfth member and no SBC member has turned down CUSA yet, a trend that.would continue were CUSA to issue another round of invites.

So why shouldn't the Sun Belt be relieved CUSA is done? If the prospect of losing two more members didn't have you at least a little worried you had your head buried in the sand.

Please elaborate. I haven't heard anything from the administration... about anything.

Not saying it's not happening, but I'm curious.

Never seen so many people drooling to do something that very well may not help their schools in
the long run. Hard to see the forest for the trees.
Hope everyone gets what they want.

actually, the SB has had no problems at all agreeing on the 12th member. It's that that member isn't ready to go out on a date with the SB just yet.

Texas State is one of four schools being discussed at this time. Your administration has been working behind the scenes, you won't hear anything.

Honestly, I still haven't heard WHY we need to be at 12. I haven't read anything about the distribution of NCAA revenue (or the playoffs) that says we need to be at 12. Thus far (from what I know), it's all Benson pushing to get us to 12.

So from that perspective... I'd be fine losing 2 members. In a perfect world it would be Idaho and NMSU (no offense guys, you are just way outliers), but that's not likely.

I think very few are "drooling", regardless I trust the administration at MT and definitely believe this is the correct move.

They voted to require a year's notice to leave. No early leaving. So no matter how bad anyone wants to leave they won't be playing any CUSA games real soon regardless of what happens.

Being in a conference with 4 in-state rivals, cutting travel costs considerably, increased bowl tie-ins, better TV exposure. . . . what part of the forest am I missing? Not trying to piss anyone off, simply the benefit of a cusa invite that I see . . .

Because you wouldn't then be in a conference with all of us.
You like us better than them, don't you?

It would be easy to see how some SunBelt members could get agrivated with Louisiana fans. At almost every turn they keep talking about wanting to go to CUSA.

Call me an optimist if you want but I really see the SunBelt as a conference on the rise. Appalachian and us are good football programs and I think will help the SunBelt.

Those are their current advantages, yes. Advantages left over from the previous CUSA lineup. It remains to be seen how all of that will hang together once they are a couple of seasons in.

The tv networks who didn't give a flip about these teams when they were in the Sun Belt suddenly see them as worth a lot of money? The bowls who wouldn't give some of these teams at-large spots because they don't travel well and don't have good attendance suddenly are excited to be associated with them?

CUSA has a a few things going for it that give it an advantage starting the battle. But so many fans who of schools who got an invite think that was the battle, that it is won, and that they are now ECU, Tulsa, and Houston as if by magic wand.

It will be interesting to see it play out. As in anything, not everyone can win. There are going to be losers in the new CUSA. Some of these schools that think they are at the edge of glory will find that they have instead just paid to be the bottom dwellers of a new conference. Some who won SBC championships and bowl slots in the past may find that they peaked and are going to spend a whole lot of time looking up at USM or LaTech.

Nobody knows, but everyone acts like they do.

I would like to see the conference stick together and pass CUSA. It will be interesting to see that happen.

The opportunity is there for sure, more so then at any other time the talent gap between the Go5 schools is at the narrowest its ever been.

You are right. I am not even the slightest bit envious of CUSA as long as we keep what we have intact. I like Texas State, Georgia Southern, Appalachian State and South Alabama more than I like the FUs, ODU, UNCC, UTSA, UAB, etc.

It is clear that we will add one more and it isn't a matter of being "rejected", it is a matter of timing.
