I was out and about with a JMU jacket on when I struck up a conversation with a guy who said he went to JMU in the mid seventies. In fact, he told me he still had his Madison College ID from his sophomore year. The name change occured in the 76-77 school year. He told me his older sister was a senior in 76-77 when the name change happened and she had the option of getting a diploma with Madison College or James Madison University. She chose Madison College. Anyway, I took a picture of his ID (won't post it since I don't have his permission) but suffice it to say his picture looks like a college guy from the 70's and it lists his status as BOARDING.

Pretty cool.

That's pretty interesting actually. It makes you want to keep all your JMU memorabilia in a safe place just in case something like that happens again. Thanks :)

If I could figure out how to get a picture on here, I would post a picture of my diploma and ring which are both Madison College '73. It always tells me file is too large. Also, have a neat Madison College wall plaque with the Bulldog when it was first adopted as our Mascot. ID cards disappeared many years ago.

I graduated in '79 and I had the option of receiving a diploma from either Madison College or JMU. I chose JMU.

I graduated in 1976 and I wish I had the option then. My Madison College diploma is very small. Wouldn't trade those years, though.
