I never question why any opponent's fans doesn't like Marshall fans, we dealt with them for over 15 years.

Miami in the past used to be very good and Marshal was very bad for a long while after that unfortunate plane crash. They were so bad that Kent State has a winning record against the Herd still even after the losses in the 90s-2000s. Kent State can't boast that against many teams mind you (another odd example is our winning record against Louisville).

It is too bad the MAC and Marshal cannot respect each other. It still is very much a nasty divorce and it really isn't good for either.

You think that plane crash affected Marshall's teams for that many years?

I don't think a coach should be arrested for pushing a fan that storms the field. I'm totally in favor of fans charging onto the field after a dramatic end to a big game, but you can't blame a coach for getting physical when he's surrounded by hundreds of screaming people who shouldn't be there. That's like the old story of the robber who breaks into a house and falls on a knife, then sues the home owner for unsafe conditions.

So you would give open season for coaches if fans rush? When we rushed the field after beating ULL to end the streak, there was no physical contact. and the students and band rushed right through their bench from the 10's.

Most players just kind of got out of the way, i patted some on the back and told them good game as I worked my way out to fin some of my friends on the team (i wasn't leading the charge). Saw a lot of players do the same.

Don't worry after 2017 you won't be able to say that. At one time you had an 18-7 lead. Kent State hasn't beat Marshall since a 20-17 win in 1978. We have won the last 10 including 2 when we were IAA, in 1980 and 1982.

Marshall was historically bad until the mid 1980s. But the team that was lost in 1970 was one of the most talented teams up until that point. Tommy Shoebridge the QB who would have started his JR year the next year would have been a 2 year starter (remember then freshman couldn't play), the NFL had already started talking about Shoebridge. He was one of the most talented QBs on the east coast. We had 2 of the highest rated WRs on the east coast that and a JR college running back that everyone was after.

Marshall's turn started in 1982, with that recruiting class under Sonny Randle. Randle would resign after 1983 and Stan Parrish would come in for 2 years as an asst. from Purdue. We had our 1st winning season in 1984 in 23 years.

The recruiting class in 1986 under George Caump is what put us over the top. Im sure Appy State fans remember some of these names in QB Tony Petersen and John Gregory who transferred to Marshall from SE Louisiana where they had just dropped their football program. Also DE Greg Atkins, and TE Eric Ihnat.

So you think its OK for a coach or player to shove a fan down to the ground HuH. Then should a fan be able to do the same thing to an opposing player then. Im glad I don't have the same "Higher Edumacation" that you have. Esp when the fan hadn't done a thing to the coach. Wauford was lucky he wasn't sued. The guy he shoved to the ground was a licensed practicing injury attorney.

I was only 25 feet from the incident and Wauford was in no danger and he basically bull rushed the guy to shove him down. We also had our guest press box destroyed, 8,000 dollars worth of damage done.
