RE: June 1st is looming large on the horizon!
It seems the SB acts slow and deliberately. That is not a bad strategy at times. I know it was rumored for many months that Appalachian and us were going to be added but it took until the end of March for the invites to actually come. I know Commissioner Benson is on record as strongly supporting 12 teams and a championship game but from past action the conference presidents are more deliberate and cautious in simply adding teams to replace departing teams.

And that's how I want it to be. Well thought out decisions rather than just jumping to stupid decisions. Benson comes across as both deserpate and scared naming off universities that are making us all scratch our heads. All he's trying to do is keep the conference in existence because can you imagine the stigma he would have with mismanaging two different conferences? I personally don't like him and am glad the presidents are acting more slow and methodical if that is indeed what is happening.

One could also argue that slow and methodical, in the case of conference realignment, doesn't win the race. Look no further than the WAC as far as not being preemptive with your strikes. I think Benson learned from that and knows three things -
1. Realignment isn't done
2. If CUSA goes to 16 he is looking at possibly losing two more
3. Inaction killed the WAC and he wants to get to 12....for a CCG and also stability. Look for a hefty exit feet if/when the SBC gets to 12 and the dust clears.

What would be best for SBC? Not particularly your individual school.
I think if JMU and MoSt are added (maybe JMU football only if that's what it takes). Then drop Idaho and bring in NMSU in all sports. And keep UL and stAte.
Is there a better option?

The Sun Belt isn't keeping anyone against their will. Not sure CUSA is the place to go, but if that's their decision, have at it if CUSA is willing. Those that stay believe will be rewarded.
As to teams to add, it get's easier with less schools to object to certain schools, so if worse happens and we lose some, could open some opportunities for some schools the SB would not add presently.

I wouldn't mind waiting an extra year for msu and jmu IF they were a definite add. Otherwise we need to seriously look at other schools and not hold onto old grudges if they are a good fit.

They will never drop Idaho. I know BE dropped Temple back to the MAC but they may have had more to due with other reasons then just saying we don't want them anymore. Idaho is football only, travel will only be once every two to four years. It's not the end of the world.

Agreed. There better be some sort of agreement saying that they will join in 2015.

Didn't say it was. But it would be best for the conference if we get the other schools

Still hope KB and the Prez Club are looking at Eastern Kentucky with their 20,000 seat stadium and hoping they might get an invite if the other two desire waiting to pick up additional conference money or what ever.

1. James Madison and Missouri St. will not commit by June 1 of this year. There is a chance, especially with regard to Missouri St., that they may be willing to commit by June 1 of 2014.
2. The membership of this conference is simply not going to vote to add Liberty, even though they are very willing to join the SB.
3. Jacksonville St. is opposed by Troy and South Alabama to one degree or another and it seems doubtful at this time that Jacksonville St. has the support to get an invite. 4. Any Southland team such as Sam Houston St. or Lamar is not supported for membership by the western members of the SunBelt.
So the SunBelt is stuck at 11 for now.
This and this (in bold).
Personally, I have no hate for Jacksonville State, but for the moment it wouldn't be a good add. The SBC needs a commitment from Missouri State or JMU first. Doesn't look as if it's happening anytime soon.

Prolly, if I knew more about 'em. I do remember them having a fairly strong athletic program.

No idea whether there is interest on either side but just for fun, here is EKU's track record over the past five years:
Football
2012: 8-3
2011: 7-5 (Playoffs)
2010: 6-5
2009: 5-6
2008: 8-4 (Playoffs)
Basketball:
2013: 25-10 (CIT)
2012: 16-16
2011: 15-16
2010: 20-13 (CBI)
2009: 18-13

Looks really, really strong compared to some schools, much stronger records than either LU or Missouri State even, especially playing in the OVC.
Plus already having a fairly large football stadium, and location would be good for the Sun Belt, especially with losing WKU.

But, you have to have the interest and were-with-all to make the move. I don't think it is there. I just don't see that they have the resources at this point. In 2011 their average home attendance was 6500.

There's been a lot of discussion about long term potential and that's speculative at best. But in terms of footprint, the Western Division of CUSA is a better fit for both programs. In either case as long as it works out for both conferences that's a good thing.

We can't knock one school on their attendance and turn a blind eye to another (MSU). I am not advocating to added EKU but they look to be as good a candidate as MSU with better athletics. Still don't see why most are so high on they in the first place. Do we even know if the presidents are even considering them seriously?
Even though I am a GaSo fan/season ticket holder I have no problem saying that App St was hands down the best candidate for the Sun Belt. But MSU is not even close IMO.
This is my take on who the best Candidates are
1. JMU
2. LU
3.JSU
4.NDSU
5.DU
6.MSU
7.EKU
