Great or terrible, but probably somewhere in between.
If you guys lose to Charlotte, no offense to Charlotte, but I would probably die laughing.
So if that happens and you never hear from me again, you will know what happened,
especially with ODU taking an extra year kind of to transition.
You'd better hope they don't beat us, if they come out that good you App fans would be limited to accademics smack talk to the Niners (which we all know is the lamest smack talk there is)
Think of what you are saying.
Back away from the keyboard, slowly.
They beat you.
GaSo has beaten ODU the last two years.
App State has beaten GaSo the last two years.
Now. Are you sure we couldn't really still beat them?
All I'm saying is if we get beat by a bunch of Fr, So and transfers thier first year of playing football then you'd have reason to worry.
Personally I hope they come out strong but not quite strong enough to knock us out
I would submit that if UNCC beats you, then ODU should be worried not App...

Absolutely. Besides, we heard that our AD called them to set up some games and they wouldn't call him back a couple of years ago. So we don't have to worry about playing UNCC anytime soon. They try to deny it, but still hear the same thing. Maybe our incoming freshmen's much higher SAT scores intimidate them since some have mentioned that to us. Nah, their first year schedule only has two teams that will be hard for them to beat, Coastal Carolina and ODU, so that's why.

I really dont think Idaho is even going to be able to stay in the game.
If ODU plays the way they have been playing the last couple of years it might get ugly fast, and they are going to have two weeks to rest and get ready for them since they have RI (0-11 last year and GaSt's only win - I think) the week before. I hope I'm wrong as I'd liike to see Belt teams over CUSA teams even during transition. If ODU puts a big one on them and they beat ECU - The Eagle fans are going to be able to keep from getting pumped with speculation since we beat ODU the last two years. I honeslty think that UNC,Pitt and ECU are winnable games for ODU this season - I dont think they will win all of them but I wont be surprised if they go 2-2 against them and Idaho. If Maryland hasnt righted their ship, they could fall to ODU as well!
Liberty is going to get a chance to show how competitive they can be when they play ODU on 10-5-13. I'm looking for another whooping dished out by ODU.
Thanks for the vote of confidence. I'm feeling about the same, Maryland barely squeeked by W&M last year and Pitt got beat by Youngstown State so wins there aren't outside the realm of possibilities. Idaho's certainly our best shot at an FBS win. We should sweep the FCS competition but the Citadel, Albany and Liberty may surprise us, who knows.
You mean ODU has agreed to play Liberty without massive protests breaking out all overthe tidewater area as some on this board would have you believe. I think that game will be closer than many think. We'll have a pretty good defense against your high powered offense.

Haha. That too. I was just referencing the in state newbie smack talk that's been going on. We went through it with JMU and the G_U's is well documented. You don't hear the Dukes saying much anymore though.

If ODU feels that way then it is hard to imagine they are going to be able to get JMU an invite.
That was quite the change of heart.

It seems CUSA is standing pat for the next couple of years. I am not sure CUSA will expand anymore at all unless they are poached and lose teams.
We could very well be entering a phase in which the only spot left in the FBS is the 12th spot in the SunBelt.

If CUSA stays at 14, what's the chance JMU holds out for a CUSA defection over taking a current SBC invite?

Just a hunch or did you hear that? EKU has solid football and would be good for App geographically but I thought I'd heard they were not ready financially for an FBS move.
The Eastern Kentucky Colonels have a 20,000 seat football stadium and a higher sports budget than Georgia Southern.
Just a hunch, but could see it happening.

I like EKU! That's a great pick-up.
I agree. EKU would be a fine school for the SB. WKU was a good addition, bet EKU would be also.
Paperwork for the NCAA is filed after they know what they are doing, only takes about a day to fill out.
Seriously you have turned to EKU? They are nowhere close to be ready, and have not made any changes to their athletic facilities in years..They are no where near ready...You would be better off taking Northern Kentucky U...If anyone has actually been to EKU's campus you would not want them...They are 30 min. away from Lexington and might as well be UK east, they have little fan support for athletics as most of their supporters are UK supporters most of the time..Adding EKU would be equivalent of Eastern Michigan...

With the new conference payout rules, if CUSA lost two, I would bet they stay at 12.

Texas State does fine and they are 30 miles from U of Texas.
Have been there for football games, seems like a great school.

Do you have any idea of EKU can even afford such a move? Tell me about facilities, scholarships, staffing, Title IX, women's sports, and so on. Some of you just think all a school has to do is accept an invite and they're ready for FBS. This takes years of planning and budget preparations, not to mention the added women's scholarships and so forth. Your head is in the sand, Apps70.
Look at MSU/JMU...even with JMU's 34 million dollar budget they still need to do a feasibility study, and MSU said wait until next year, then contact us. What makes you think Eastern Kentucky of all places is further along than JMU/MSU, not to mention Liberty, who has been planning this for 5 years?
Head in sand.
Many schools never had a study on going FBS, just did it. Studies mainly only help the particular administration justify it to their boards. Go back and read the internet and newspaper articles of when WKU decided to go FBS. Sounded like it was done within days of deciding. Of course other sports may have already been included, but EKU could make a fast decision. Just because you keep saying that you are the only option doesn't make it true. Far from it.
If my head is in the sand, it must be to find LU's chances.
WKU's decision was not done in days...We started in 1999 remodeling and adding new buildings and upgrading dorms for years to make overall campus better plus adding green space..Also upgrading our basketball arena in 2001 and setting forth plans of stadium expansion...There was a lot more done than you realize before we made the move in 2008..EKU has done nothing in years beside a new building here or there...WKU's campus has been transformed since I was there in 2002 and I hardly recognize campus with so many changes for the better..EKU looks like the same outdated campus across a cow field that smells like manure as it always has..EKU should be about 20th on your list man......They do have a new president from Southern UTah, maybe he cares more about athletics than their past presidents who did nothing to enhance their athletics....EKU's basketball gym is not much better than a middle school gym...

What is the state of Texas population compared to Kentucky?....Has Texas St renovated their campus and or football stadium?....Texas St looks like an awesome campus looking at pictures, their football stadium looks like a a palace compared to EKU...EKU has one side and than rickety high school bleachers on other side.....Have you been to EKU's campus?..You are looking silly on your argument for EKU...I know its the SB, but I would seriouly hope or expect better than EKU...Idaho looks like Texas U compared to EKU....Dare I say this but Liberty would be a 100 times better than EKU along with 15 other schools...
Nothing wrong with your obvious homer bias due to close location to your school but even bringing up EKU is a bigger joke than Liberty..

Have no idea if they are even interested, especially since they are doing some cutbacks.
So you probably don't have anything to worry about. But who knows what the SB
presidents will do.
Why do you not want them so badly, you guys will leave the SB before they could get in?
Old state rivals?
